ChannelTwoNews
In at least one location anyway, at Westheimer near Fondrenhttp://swamplot.com/the-sign-of-del-taco-rises-over-houston/2012-02-22/I tried to find information about expansion in the Houston area, but could only find plans for a major push into DFW in recent years. Nevertheless, the local store is listed as 'coming soon' on the locations page...

ricco67
Never even knew of them until I heard a brief mention of them on an episode of The Big Bang Theory.I just thought they were some made up place for a punchline. It'll be interesting to see how they compare/survive against Taco Bell (which should be no big deal) and other local joints.I mean, really? Can't we use another good Mexican joint in this city, that is located over 4 hours away from the border?
mkultra25
Del Taco is (or used to be) quite a bit better than Taco Bell, which isn't saying much. In the 80s I used to eat at the one which was at Richmond and Spur 527 - I think there's a Shipley's at that location now.

I think they pulled out of the Houston area about 20 years ago or so.
MarkLTD
I saw that they are "now training" at the location on Westheimer just west of Fondren. Thought it was just a Big Bang Theory punchline too until I saw this the other day.
sifuwong
Del Taco was much better than Taco Hell....too bad they left town back in the 80s. Isn't it a California based restaurant?
