Mod of the Month

Sunday, January 29th, 2012, 2:00 - 4:00 PM

Houston Mod invites you to join us this Sunday for Mod of the Month. Two wonderful mid-century-modern houses will be open for touring. The houses need new owners/are available for purchase. They are located in southwest Houston near Loop 610 and South Braeswood Boulevard. This is a free event.

10914 Willowisp Drive, Houston, Texas 77035

Noted modernist architect William R. Jenkins designed this beautiful mid-century modern house. Nestled in a small enclave of well designed MCM homes, this house is centered around a walled courtyard with a swimming pool. The layout is designed to feel very open yet provide privacy from the street. Lots of great details remain including original floating style cabinetry, poured terrazzo floors, skylights, and an abundance of floor to ceiling glass.

5110 Braesheather Drive, Houston, Texas 77096

This stunning Mid-Century Modern house was designed by architect Hy Applebaum. Original terrazzo and stone floors, wonderful cabinetry, sunken living room, large dining room, guest bath with skylights & original tile fortunately still remains in good condition. The bedrooms are large. There is a pool with a Japanese garden feel. The sleek vintage kitchen and family room are one open area with access to a 1/2 bathroom. The garage has large storage areas. The house, located on one of Meyerlands best streets, is fortunate to posess many of it's outstanding original features!

A 1980's mod located at 5335 Queensloch, very near the 5110 Braesheather house, will also be open Sunday, today, 2-4 PM.

Also, the "Formica House" is located almost behind the Braesheather house at the SW corner of S. Rice and S. Braeswood. Those of you that have not seen it can take a short walk around the corner to do so. It's not open so view it from the sidewalk.
