slfunk
Would love to see more pictures of what McDougal is doing across University from Texas Tech. I'm out there maybe once a year. Two years ago it looked like a war zone with all the rubble, then last year there were apts popping up like seeds, wondering what it looks like now, and if someone could keep us updated. Also how is the Marsha Sharp Freeway coming?
mrfootball
Speaking of the $450 Million Marsha Sharp Freeway Project, there's a really cool computer simulated 'fly through' here: http://216.12.175.35/hntb/MarthaSharpFrwy-...Cam_Reverse.wmv I still can't believe they poo-poo'd the 'Windy Man' icons that were designed for the intersections. mrfootball
$15 Million Football Training Facility (Front Entrance). Each flagpole flys a different Big XII member institution flag. Practice field side of the new Football Training Facility. The sheer length of this building is astounding. The building houses a state-of-the-art new weight training facility, theatre-style meeting rooms, individual position meeting rooms, Coaches offices, and a first class Sports Medicine facility donated by a group of Lubbock doctors. EJ Holub Weight Training Center (donated by Zach Thomas) $4.5 Million Marsha Sharp Academic Center and Courtyard (across from TTU Alumni Pavillion). Tech officials correctly surmised that separating the Academic buildings from the Football building would yield better results than the combined facilities built at other schools. The idea being that when athletes leave the athletic training facilities, they enter this one with an academic mindset. Texas Tech was recently recognized by the American Football Coaches Association for posting some of the highest graduation rates in College Football, averaging over 70% Graduation rate for the past 5 years. (if you look closely at the Masked Rider Statue, you'll see that it was vandalized by opposing school's fans prior to a Texas A&M game).
