NekoCase
Found this obit for Houston Architect Mike Verges. Helped with the design on the Dome and studied under Frank Lloyd Wright and built a really neat Usonian style home off Hiram Clarke. His house at 4421 Simsbrook is worth a drive past if you are in the area. Anyone know of other homes he did in Houston?http://www.legacy.co...5048&fhid=10885 Edited August 13, 2011 by NekoCase
BenH
Where is the house off Hiram Clarke, or do you mean his own house on Simsbrook?
sevfiv
Thanks for the heads up about the house - funny how one (I) can drive around areas and have no clue what's hiding around the corner!

Slaney
The verges house is currently being modified to allow for a more traditional hvac system. The existing system of ducts in the slab has become extremely inefficient due to age and foundation issues. We recently leveled out the foundation which had succumbed to the previous drought and continued under-reaming by water runoff through a number of factors. From one side of the home to the other we had to remediate almost 7" of drop. This has been accomplished and now we're dealing with the below grade ducts which are compromised beyond repair. We're currently over framing the roof to allow for a more traditional duct install. This is being done in a manner to complement the style of the home. Stop by if your curious!!Slaney Designs is the contractor performing the work. Stephen Laney is the Architect designing the remediation. CPH Engineering created the foundation remediation plans.
