Ross
I had to go in the last time I renewed, but will be able to renew online in 2011. I think you have to get a new picture every other renewal.
barracuda
I had to go last week for renewal and a new photo. 4:30 in the afternoon and there was one person in line. I am surprised that TXDPS still sends new drivers licenses by mail instead of printing and laminating them at the branch for immediate delivery, like some other states have been doing for several decades. Why else?
LTAWACS
Until my mother moved just a couple of years ago, she had a paper license with no photo. She lived in New Jersey where she'd been renewing her license by mail for decades. When she had to fly (usually out of Newark), she used her company's photo ID, and the TSA would have to accept it, since it happened all the time in that area. The TSA are not your friends.
