HUNTERS CREEK VILLAGE BREAKS GROUND

ON METRO FUNDED PROJECT

Hunters Creek Village recognized METRO for funding its Inwood Oaks Drive and April Way paving and drainage construction projects at a groundbreaking ceremony yesterday.

METRO Board members C. Jim Stewart, III and Burt Ballanfant joined Hunters Creek Village Mayor Bob Dodson for the ceremony, conducted at Hedwig at Inwood Oaks.

"The cooperative financial and services partnership of the City of Hunters Creek, METRO Transit Authority, Cobb Fendley Engineers and Memorial Villages Water Authority makes this project possible," said Mayor Bob Dodson. "The city is indebted to its partners for their support that will result in significant roadway and drainage improvements to this neighborhood and benefits for all of the citizens of Hunters Creek Village."

METRO awarded Hunters Creek Village $576,716.85 to replace deteriorated roadways and improve drainage capacity throughout the city. The work is expected to begin May 18, 2009, and projected to be completed by mid-October.

The Hunters Creek Village project is one of many road improvement projects that METRO has funded through its General Mobility Program.

METRO has contributed about $1.82 billion toward road and infrastructure projects since the program launched in 1987.

Hey Metro, how's about repaving Airline and N. Main just south of the North Loop in partnership with the city of Houston?
