lockmat
This seems awesome and a really cool idea. Anyone else seen it before in person? http://flickr.com/photos/jade001/2231818029/
editor
Very cool. I've seen similar things in Vienna and Prague, but they were temporary installations for a night or a week. Sometimes they'd use iconic shapes instead of words. But this one is permanent, isn't it? I like it.
sevfiv
The library renovations were started after I was long gone, but I had to go back for a few classes there for graduate school in the evening - it is interesting after dark...Here's a UH Today article about it:http://www.uh.edu/uhtoday/2004/06jun/062804sanborn.html

Great effect. I remember the old library entrance, and the new one is much better.
FIREhat
The railings around the atrium inside and another installation all have similar scrollwork. As the UH Today article notes, the same artist did something similar at CIA HQ. I think I took this; if I did it was with a cell phone one night when I was up there studying late.
