WillowBend56
1950s & 1960s: Our family would sometimes visit an aunt & uncle and cousins who lived north of downtown San Antonio on W. Russell. I recall some street not too far away that had an old tree in the middle of the road. In other words, the tree bifurcated the road. It was not in a protected median or island. I always thought that was odd. I guess the city decided to keep it that way rather than chop it down years ago.Any idea where that tree might have been? Heights2Bastrop
There used to be a couple of trees right in the middle of Sunset Blvd just before it intersected with Main Street.

What were doing in that part of town? That was just a few blocks from where I lived. Sorry to hear they're gone. I went around those trees many times. They did have several scars on them about bumper high.

JLWM8609
I think I found the tree in the middle of Sunset Rd. Historic Aerials shows it to be gone by 1964.
