editor
Nice pictures. There are large three cities in Texas I haven't gotten to yet: Midland, Odessa, and Lubbock. I was going to stop in on my way to Amarillo, but the weather turned freaky. I'll always remember seeing Lubbock from the freeway (I-27?) and the funnel cloud snaking up from the horizon behind it. It was the freakiest thing I'd seen in a long time. Looked just like a movie. Anyway, I decided to keep going.Keep posting pics!
brijonmang
Ah yes, west texas weather...so beautiful yet so destructive at the same time. We havent really had any severe weather yet this semester so i guess that is good, but you kinda get tired of it being so dry and sunny EVERY day...never thought I would say that

arche_757
How and why is Lubbock even around? No intention of pissing someone off just curious?
brijonmang
Agriculture and location...Its the biggest city in that part of Texas so it pretty much ties all the agricluture in the area together...that and the fact there is a major university there
arche_757
Location alone doesnt explain how Lubbock came into being. But I think I know - Rail, and Cattle. Prior to rail cattle were driven from Fort Worth to Wyoming and Montana and back from there to here, Lubbock became a stop along the way and when rail took off then it became a likely candidate for a rail stop - one thing led to another and eventually Lubbock was the site of Texas "TECHNICAL" school - strange place for a tech school. Should have been in Dallas, Houston, San Antonio or Galveston.
