A free invitation from Houston Mod:

http://www.houstonmod.org/Events/Wightman_...ouse_Invite.pdf

Please join us this Friday, March 25, 6-9 p.m., at the University of

Houston, College of Architecture, Archives Gallery for the Bousquet

Wightman

House Exhibition Reception.

Houston Mod's first limited edition publication (250 quantity) will be

available; a must have for only twenty dollars.

Title:

Donald Barthelme: a modernism suitable for everyday use, 1939-1945.

Subject:

Donald Barthelme was perhaps the most accomplished modern architect in

Houston in the 1940s and 1950s.

While his output was small, his designs were extraordinary.

The catalog focuses primarily on the design of the Bousquet Wightman

House

and places it within the context of the Houston architectural scene of

the

New Deal years and within Barthelme's own oeuvre.

Preservation is hip, join the movement (we'll have a membership form

for

you!)

I might be interested in going if it was not on Good Friday. I already have plans for my day off. That book looks pretty cool though.
