Ptarmigan
Remember these dates in Houston weather history? June 8-9, 2001, March 4, 1992, October 15-19, 1994, or July 25-26, 1979? Some floods in the past were really horrific, where Buffalo Bayou went over 30 feet! 1875 and 1935 come to mind. http://www.wxresearch.com/houflood.html
Native Son
I don't recall the exact year, but it was before they concreted Willow Waterhole. Willowbend and Willowmeadows were at least hip deep...we took a canoe trip down Cliffwood to Willowbend...I think it was '75 or '
Original Timmy Chan's
Remember these dates in Houston weather history? Amazing rain event.March 1992, I was at UH, I remember the Metro busses floating in the Lockwood underpass.October 1994, I was stuck in Pasadena, couldn't get out of the neighborhood. San Jacinto River was on fire, and the I-10 bridge over the San Jacinto (or Trinity?) River was knocked out.July 1979 was TS Claudette...not sure if I remember it, but I remember some big floods when I was a kid where we rafted down the street. The July 25-26 storm dropped 43 inches of rain near Alvin in 24 hours, still the US record for 24-hr rainfall.
MidtownCoog
1979 was the big one for me. It made a mess of the South Belt area.

Houston was a divided city for over a week, with no one able to cross Buffalo Bayou.
