Rice Students Win Mega-block Charrette

Rice University students took home top honors at Columbia University's design competition, "Mega-Block Charrette." The two-day competition asked teams to look at China's current high-density housing developments, known as mega-blocks, and create designs for energy-conscious and profitable housing.

"Their scheme was particularly innovative in suggesting how a high-density housing project can offer new landscapes and urban environments within the mega-block," said Clover Lee, assistant professor of architecture at Rice. Lee served as the team's adviser.
