Modernceo Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 So, I decided to hang out on my back porch and enjoy this absolutely beautiful weather. I was reading my paper for a good 20-30 mins (around 545pm) until several Cicadas decided to make noise in a bush about 2 feet away from me. The noise was almost deafening! Now, normally I can put up with them because im indoors, but im wondering, is there anything that can be done, short of :1) finding them, and crushing them with my foot2) spraying them with gasoline and tossing a match into the bushThat doesnt involve chemicals ? Anything natural that would make them move to a bush say 30 feet away ? Heh. I know this is wishful thinking, just wondering if you guys have ever had experience with anything to quieten these things. Quote

My cat just played with one. Quote
EastEnd Susan Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 All of my cicadas have disappeared but the crickets have moved in like crazy. It sounds like the cricket philharmonic playing in my backyard and they only know one song. Quote
sidegate Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 cicadas put the fear of god in me. I run inside if I see one. those and the big flying roaches, buzzing around drunkenly like an airplane trying to land in a crosswind lol.Crickets are less scary than either, but they are just as noisy as cicadas! houstonmacbro Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 I've been hearing crickets when I have the windows open. There was one the other night that was so loud I thought it was an alien invasion. Quote
