rapturematt Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 Okay, I am away from computer all day, and all I can think of is, "I wonder what they are discussing on HAIF?" Yes, it is sad! The only problem that I am experincing is that the forum is not very mobile friendly. Would there be a way to do this?If not, can some recommend a good counselor to hep me with my HAIF addiction? rapturematt Posted January 27, 2008 Author Posted January 27, 2008 Is the Chronicle not mobile friendly. I have never checked, but that is a complete surprise. The should for sure be. Quote

TheNiche Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 You guys need to buy BETTER equiptment ! When the company wants to buy me a Palm Treo or an iPhone, I'll have better equipment. For now, Blackberry is what I'm stuck with. Quote
memebag Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 When the company wants to buy me a Palm Treo or an iPhone, I'll have better equipment. For now, Blackberry is what I'm stuck with.I like my Blackberry better than an iPhone. I can't type on those things. Plus, I like good mobile presentation of sites. Yahoo's news is excellent. It would be sweet if the HAIF had a good mobile version, but I'd waste even more time here if it did. Quote
rapturematt Posted January 27, 2008 Author Posted January 27, 2008 It would be sweet if the HAIF had a good mobile version, but I'd waste even more time here if it did. I think that is the point... It will just help the editor sell more advertising for the website because he could talk about our addictions. Quote
editor Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 I always assumed that Diet HAIF was a good solution for people with Blackberries, etc... I used to use it on my SonyEricsson phone. Does it not work well displaying the articles, or is simply not useful because there's no reply functionality? Quote

Also, the message boundaries and quote blocks rely too heavily on divs and CSS for most PDA usage. Quote
rapturematt Posted January 28, 2008 Author Posted January 28, 2008 I would like to see you function to the it like reply and view new post. That could be the only hope I have right now. Quote
Jax Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 HAIF works fine on an iPhone, the only problem is sometimes you have to scroll down really far to get to the bottom of a thread and that can take a while with so many posts per page. I don't think iPhone has a gesture for skipping to the bottom of a webpage yet. Quote
editor Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 Do Blackberries do RSS? That could be a temporary solution for not having "View New Posts" Quote
ricco67 Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 I never had a problem reading HAIF on my old IPAQ, except when it came "view new posts" and that was just a personal irritant and nothing to go nuts over. My biggest issue is cnn.com and chron.com I gave up looking at those sites when they changed formats. Quote
editor Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 OK, here's something I hope might help some of you:Smooth, refreshing HAIF:Now.I wrote it so that it's as simple a page render as possible so it will work on as many mobile devices as possible.Try it out and let me know what machines you're using and if it works. Especially Crackberries. Quote
lockmat Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Did a different solution besides haif:now ever arrive? I somehow accidently had what I thought was a mobile version the other day. I don't know what I clicked on or why it went away but I want it back. My bb times out often bc the page is too big. Quote
woolie Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 (edited) I do about half my HAIFing from my iPhone. Mostly using the mobile view -- although I wish there was the "Woolie's Content" view available in the mobile theme. Edited May 4, 2012 by woolie Quote
lockmat Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 How do u get to the haif mobile view? My blackberry does not automatically detect it. Quote
woolie Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Automatic on my iphone. iPad uses the regular view. Also, the mobile theme desperately needs a "last page of thread" button. Quote
woolie Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 It's not a URI. It's based on the user agent header. It will show you the "mobile view" if your browser says that it's an iPhone. Quote
samagon Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 You can also use tapatalk. I don't remember the cost, but it's well under the cost of a 6 pack of beer, and they keep updating the features. They have a free version as well to try. It's very light on the KB. Quote
lockmat Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 Thanks bit its a company bb and it won't let me download third party apps. 1 Quote

lockmat Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 There used to be a link at the bottom left of each page that said "mobile version" but it's gone now. Where did it go? I need it. Quote
