Even with the relatively low tax rate of $1.25 per $100, I still find it hard to swallow the $7,000,000 practice swimming pool included in the bond proposal. That is an amazing amount of money! It better have a wave generator, natural sand beach, and swim-up bar for taxpayers at that price!

That seems pretty much like Berry Center-lite to me if they're going to have a beach built out of a practice facility.

Some other highlights of the bond:

  • Clements HS: Athletic, restroom and HVAC replacements.
  • Willowridge HS: Auditorium makeover, waiting area near the Boys' Gym, and an expanded police office.
  • Many schools getting security enhancements (think video recorders, cameras and access doors).
  • Most, if not all open concept elementary schools enclosing their classrooms (Briargate, Hunters Glen, Lantern Lane, Mission Bend, Mission Glen, Ridgegate, Sugar Mill so far) or at least finishing the job of enclosing them (Blue Ridge, Colony Bend, Highlands, Palmer, Pecan Grove, Settlers Way, Townewest).
