The Great Hizzy!
No San Jac monument? Isn't it within the city limits, technically speaking?Anyway, I'd certainly add the Meacom fountain, too.

Subdude
Not glamorous, but I would think about adding the Houston Ship Channel.
KimberlySayWhat
Yeah, the San Jacinto monument is the tallest of its kind in the world.
Ethanra
It will be cool if we could make our own list. If someone could make a list of 20 or so spots in Houston and then we could vote and have a pole, or do it some other way. I read the comments from readers that are posted at the end of the article and majority of the posters have nothing but negative comments about anything and everything about Houston. They make up facts as they go on with their post. I read some other articles and it was the same kind of negative, inaccurate post.
KimberlySayWhat
That's because people think it's supposed to be cool to be negative about things like that.

Guest Marty
I will nominate the Addicks Reservoir mystery markings. Here a thread about it here http://www.houstonarchitecture.info/haif/i...?showtopic=6193 Edited July 13, 2007 by Marty
editor
Not just that, the majority of responses to chron.com's articles are negative. Click on just about any article and you'll see...Unfortunately, the internet brings out the complainers. It's true here on HAIF and everywhere else. I think it goes along with the adage about how it's hard to create, but easy to criticize. The internet is attractive to lazy people because it gives them a large voice with little effort. Parrothead
Definitely San Jac monument, and even though it's technically Katy, Forbidden Gardens!
KimberlySayWhat
You never hear much about Forbidden Gardens. I think the first time I ever heard anything about it was on the Travel channel. I was surprised that it was right here and I wasn't aware of it. I'd like to go.
Original Timmy Chan's
No San Jac monument? Isn't it within the city limits, technically speaking? The San Jacinto Monument is in Deer Park (hence their "Birthplace of Texas" slogan). I haven't been in years, but it's a very special place to all Texans.
