MidtownCoog Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 This would be cool. Vertical farming in the big Apple http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/6752795.stm Quote
Saddleman Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 I love it. Now put condos, a hotel, retail, and offices in, and you have some serious vertical mixed use. Quote
editor Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 I think it's worth trying, even as a tourist attraction. But Midtown Manhattan is a bad location. at 30-stories, that thing is always going to spend a lot of time in the shadow of other buildings. Now, if they built it on one of the dozens of empty islands in the harbor, that would be cool. MidtownCoog Posted June 19, 2007 Author Posted June 19, 2007 It reminds me a lot of the horizontal farm that I had in college: Quote
editor Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 I've been wanting to grow some tropical flowers in my apartment, but don't want to spend a ton of money on equipment. I'm just going to wait until the next sheriff's auction and get all the growing supplies I need. Quote
gwilson Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 It reminds me a lot of the horizontal farm that I had in college: I just coughed up...I mean spit out my soda! Classic. Quote
