Stuart Weitzman's Italian Design To Come To The States?

Recommended Posts

don't know if any of you have been to Italy much less the Stuart Weitzman store there. anyway, their millwork or shelving dispaly is all curved. floor pattern on the floor is curved, and everything is this off white color. apparently there is speculation that this "curved" style will make it's way to the u.s. imo it's blah.

what do you guys think?

here are some pics:

The Vegas store in The Venentian already looks like that.

interesting i did not know that, i'll have to look that up.

i think they'll be doing this concept in beverly hills-rodeo drive....

edit:

out of curiousity, katie, while in vegas did you go visit the Wynn Casino and the shops inside?

Yes it looks nice, however I see nothing "innovative" about it? That style of advertising has been around for decades.

I have old silent movies filmed inside huge department stores in Los Angeles in mid 1920's and you can see this same style in the set design or background. Maybe I missed something?

Again, I think it looks clean, sharp and streamlined but its been done before here in US for years. :P

ha, ur right on the dot. that's exactly how i feel. i personally think it looks cheezy.

Who cares about the show racks, you could line em up on the floor for all I care.

Never the less I'll check it out when I'm in Vegas next month and comment.

no, when ur in vegas go to the wynn casino and take pics of the ferrari shop for me :DB) oh and check out the LV store there too. my buddy worked on that store.

You actually bring up a good point. That is in regards to Department Store advertising. I have yet to see that topic covered on Haif unless it has in the past and I missed?

I am always fascinated to see the imagination that goes into design of stores inside and out. I personally flip out to see the shopping areas outside of casinos like Ceasar's Palace in Vegas. The domed ceilings with murals of the sky are too cool. I am a big fan of futuristic billboards and the like as I have mentioned several times on haif. I love how flat widescreen has been used lately in various stores to advertise new products. Ok I am straying but yes I too am crazy of how other cities do thier layouts. Innovation baby!

pimpolicious, then me and you can have a discussion all day, lol. i like everything about architecture from healthcare, green architecticture to high end retail. you should see what they did in the prada store. they used this special glass on the dressing room doors so that it's clear when not in use, but when the door is closed the glass goes frosted.

the LV store in waikiki, hawaii will be using a visual screens at the stair landing. currently that is in construction as it's being renovated. they are also going to incorporate a display that looks a little odd. i'll be sure to post pics once completed. but yeah that would be good to have a retail thread.

PRGirl, the LV store with the tubes is inside the wynn casino. if i'm not mistakes i think there are led's in that storefront so the tubes light up.

Have you guys heard about the Prada time capsule store in Valentine, TX outside of Marfa? It was featured in PaperCity last spring in '06. It's freaking cool. It's in the middle of nowhere in the desert. Google it. My mom lives in Marfa, so I've been there.
