Houston Now Sixth Largest Metropolitan Area

i hated my 7th grade tx history teacher but she told us that sam houston tried to move the capital to houston but austonians ambushed them or something and it stayed in austin. my teacher was REALLY old and she could have been crazy, has anyone else heard that story?

Capitals have been moved before. I mean, Rio used to be the capital of Brazil, but now it's moved to Brazilia. I say let's move the capital to someplace cool ... like ... Corpus Christi.

Why not ? California has had several capitals. Under Spanish and Mexican rule it was Monterey. Then between 1849 and 1854-- San Jose, Vallejo, Benicia, and since 1854 Sacramento, called Sacratomato by SF Bay Area types.
