  1. Does the "Sugar Land" forum also cover Missouri City and other municipalities in northeast Fort Bend County? If so, perhaps it should be renamed?
  2. A new elementary school will be built for the Galleria area that will relieve nearby schools. The School @ Post Oak will relocate to the St. George Place school when it opens, as will Briargrove Elementary. Briargrove will move out once the new Briargrove campus is complete. St. George Place will also take some of the zoning boundary of Will Rogers Elementary School, which is closing because the land it is on was sold.
  3. So why not send a letter suggesting METRO gets to work right away on a Hardy Toll Road (Bush IAH, Spring/Klein, and the Woodlands) system and a Hobby/Clear Lake/Galveston system? METRO should start these projects first thing!
  4. "Do people realize that rail cost billions of dollars? Who do expect to pay for all this. Don't you think that money can be used towards hiring more teachers, libaries, more police officers (exspeacially since their will be a shortage soon) etc... Sure LRT look neat and serve a purpose but not what they cost. " You are wrong about the teachers bit - Schools are handled by a variety of separate school districts in Houston, not by the cities. Anyways, I say "Yes, it's worth it!" The red line is not much, but wait until all of the suburban and airport lines are built! "We've built TWO Astrodomes in the last 5 years!" Huh? The former football team kinda held the city hostage regarding the Astrodome, therefore we had to build those two stadiums if we wanted the teams to stay.
  5. My sister went to Lamar, and it's a pretty good school. What could be done here is that people in one school's attendance zone have the option to attend the other, and vice versa (this is done with West Briar and Revere Middle Schools).
  6. What if HISD turned it into a year-round high school stadium? (Perhaps it can be the "home" stadium for Bellaire HS, Lamar HS, and a few others)
  7. South End Junior High School, located at 1300 Holman street. I know that HCC is using the old San Jacinto High School as a part of HCCS Central. However, I wonder if HISD can buy the building back and remodel or tear down and build a brand new building for a new school. Perhaps people who are zoned to Gregory-Lincoln want a zoned school that is closer to them than Lamar (the current zone school for much of the Gregory-Lincoln area) is. However, HISD could mainly make this school into a magnet school that could relieve nearby high schools such as Lamar. I'm not sure if HCC is willing to let go of the San Jacinto building, though..
  8. TWHS has two Campuses McCullough has about 2,500 students and covers grades 9 - 10 The main TWHS campus holds the same number for 11 - 12. However, this may change with the opening of College Park.
  9. Braeswood is getting more "urban" as it got a new library and a revamped YMCA, therefore there are more neighborhood amenities. Even so, I wish Houston was more friendly for pedestrians! I see several areas which don't have sidewalks.
  10. By the way, when are METRO board meetings? I would like to ask for airport routes (including the Hobby continuing to Clear Lake route) ASAP.
  11. That reminds me, I'm making a story with my friend about six teenagers from Westside High School and Stratford High School who end up going to Sharpstown Mall... their classmates predict that they will get in trouble. "(Stratford High School) Feifei Wu: Where did Jack and his friends go? Sam Johnston: He went to Sharpstown Mall. Why are you asking? Ray Rayburn: Those idiots! They are gonna get shot there!"
  12. Hmm... what if there is a Northline Mall-Aldine/Greenspoint-Bush IAH route and a Downtown-Northline-Spring-Woodlands route? People wishing to go from Downtown to Bush IAH would connect at Northline.
  13. Now, as for Bush, I wonder if rail service Bush would be a good as a stop on the way to any prominent Houston suburbs (e.g. The Woodlands). If it is, perhaps an off-site stop for the airport can be made if it is too much to take the rail system directly into the airport property.
  14. But Houston's Bush airport is the second largest in Texas. Many of the cities that don't have rail service are much, much smaller. In addition, having a rail service would help foriegn businessmen from countries where rail service to the airports is common.
  15. " They should really consider a subway or elevated rail" Elevated rail could work to the airport(s), but subways are not a good idea due to Houston flooding.
  16. However, I do not like the fact that the plan does not yet call for rail service from the airports! The airport rail service must start ASAP!
