Interesting. I always thought this little parking lot should get something put there. That would be a nice upstairs restaraunt/bar/patio concept.
Hope this gets built..... but where will they then put the Houston Inspired mural???

The restaurants have a December opening with new names; Kristalla and Osso.
"The dual Italian restaurant concepts being constructed at 500 Crawford in downtown Houston appear to be on track to a December launch. But the restaurants – managed by restaurateurs Bill Floyd and Bryan Caswell – will open with entirely new names: Kristalla and Osso.
When the project was first announced last January the restaurant names were pitched as Brocca and Il Panchina ("pitcher" and "bench" in Italian), nods to the nearby Minute Maid Park and the Houston Astros, owned by Jim Crane who is financing the two dining concepts"

Just drove by and they had a bunch of lights on inside. There's a huge chandelier on the second floor on the corner of Crawford and Walker visible from the street. Sorry for the poor pic as it does not do it justice. Man, this hotel is going to be nice once its complete.

The setback is the distance from where the building is from the street. Therefore this building creates a wider sidewalk encouraging a walkable and pedestrian friendly environment.
.....just off the top of my head

Their FB says "Less than 30 days" So I'm guessing people will start moving in soon.

Nice. I drive by it everyday and can tell they are working hard to get this up and running. Can't wait to see how vibrant this area will be once all of the restaurants at GRB and the Marriott Marquis are complete as well.

Can you give any detailed info on how fast the new apartments are being rented? I'd love for that to be true, but I haven't seen any info -- anecdotal or otherwise -- for a long time.
Despite all the gloom-and-doom in the air, doesn't downtown still have something like 150,000 daytime workers? Seems like it would only take 2-3% of those people wanting to swap their commute for downtown living to fill up the rental units coming on line.
Sorry to go off topic for this thread, but here is an article from Mid august stating that 500 Crawford where I live is already 40% leased after having move ins starting in March. The whole north half of the building just opened not too long ago and I can tell more people are moving in as the parking garage has more and more cars.

I moved downtown 4 months ago and absolutely love it. It's very attractive to a lot of people as all of the new complexes are leasing up very fast. It still has a way to go, but once all of the current apartments under construction, hotels, and the convention district are complete it will definitely take it to the next level.

I absolutely love this building. I can't wait until the retail is lease out to see the impact it will have on Main St.

People can get a lot more done when there is a hard deadline.
^ This. The SuperBowl is the ultimate show in town and a time to showcase the city and our "new" downtown. There's no doubt in my mind all of these restaurants will be up and running by mid January.

Is 4+ months really that short of a time to finish out a restaurant space?
At 500 Crawford it does. They've been working on their restaurants since I moved in 3.5 months ago and they are no where close to being done lol.
Then again they just don't seem to be in any hurry to get them open and I haven't seen any visible progress in a month and a half...
