This corner is a prime location as it is across the street from the JW Marriott and at the intersection of two different rail lines. It also has me thinking about what other buildings downtown have ground floor spaces that can be converted to retail.

Yea it's been amazing. I went to the concerts on friday then ventured over to the bars on main street and people were everywhere. Once all of the hotels are complete, new apartments, it will become the norm for a vibrate downtown. Larger conventions will come to town, more retail will follow. I. Can. Not. Wait!

I agree the biggest problem with making this street a "retail corridor" is the lack of anything at street level in so many of those parking garages. Maybe food trucks could park there on the sidewalk?
Yea the back of the Four Seasons and those parking garages on the north side of Dallas Street are blank walls and aren't helping this retail district at all. I'm loving the wider sidewalks and street lights though. It'll pick up momentum now that the construction is nearing completion and when Alessandra opens.

I'm amazed to see this midrise in a sea of parking spaces. I would've hoped for maybe 3 more of these midrises during the incentives program

Found their FB page. Here is a photo of their lobby as of March 18th with the caption:
" Our lobby area is almost complete! Check out our photos of the day. The lobby will feature a shared check-in desk, two separate breakfast areas and lounges, private dining rooms, two business centers and our 710 Bar & Patio concept. "
Might have to checkout their bar/patio....

^^^ at dusk, specialized LED lighting can only enhance this development very nicely. also, i cannot wait to see just what kind of retail that they shall bring forth....
Will this have retail? Or are those windows to the lobby areas?

I wish they would take the facade off and return it to its previous glory

I don't care. At least they have it.
Dallas may not be Vegas or NYC, but at least it somewhat portrays it a little in its appearance. Not really trying to de-rail the topic, but me and my girlfriend went up there last weekend and ate at the revolving restaurant Reunion Tower, overlooking the beautiful nightlit city with night displays and the nice new Omni Hotel. All i'm saying is, it wouldn't kill Houston to add a little pizazz to and bring something a little more eye-catching.
Houston has a revolving restaurant as well downtown overlooking the city...

"Downtown soon will see a spiffed up hotel and a new Texas-inspired restaurant to boot.
The Crowne Plaza Houston Downtown will be rebranded as The Whitehall when it emerges from a $5 million renovation on April 14. At the same time the hotel's restaurant, Brazos, will open as Edgar's Hermano with executive chef Sylvia Covarrubias at the helm."

Hard for me to pick just one, but I'm going with Aris because it will have a massive impact on the already vibrate Market Square historic district that I regularly frequent.
2nd place is The Star, then I'm grouping all of the ballpark district apartments (500, Catalyst, Alexan) together as they will all feed off of each other to create a nice neighborhood.

The Galleria Mall At 5085 Westheimer Rd.
in Uptown and Galleria Area
Posted · Edited by Nole23
OH heck yea!!!
I feel as if The Galleria area and Downtown are now competing for development, which is a good thing! find a way to connect a rail line between the two areas.
