  1. I disagree with this because I don't think you become an alpha city by being a follower. You become an alpha city by being an innovator.

I would really love to see Houston leverage all of the assorted engineering brainpower in the city to come up with a 21st century solution to our transit issues. I personally don't think that anyone has done mass transit in a low density city that has a dispersed job base well and the numbers really support that view. I would much rather see Houston do something innovative rather than following everyone else.

You want to become an alpha city? Be innovative - run Elon Musk's hyperloop from the airport to downtown to that spaceport that is potentially being built. Run an elevated track for autonomous buses down Westpark instead of light rail. Do something that no one else has done.

Continually bashes light rail and heavy rail as being useless and too expensive.......

........suggests building "Elon Musks hyperloop from the airport to downtown to that spaceport that is potentially being built" and running an elevated track for autonomous buses all the way down westpark.

  2. No activity yesterday. The crane never moved, and the Bobcats and other equipment were just left at ground level with nothing on the roof. Looks like they are down to 15 stories now. No evidence of ground having broken; I don't know where that rumor came from (click for larger view):

    Yesterday was a rainout/inclement weather.
  3. Id like to hear some of our older posters tell us all about the history of cable and satellite in Houston. :)

    I have many questions like:

Who was the first cable provider?

    First satellite provider?

    Was there any competition?

What programming were those old gigantic satellites in peoples backyards that were like 15 feet across? What channels were available?

I remember going to my grandparents house in the early 80s and they had one of these:post-9042-0-81621700-1393118698.jpg

    What company was this?

  4. I lived in Houston House for 7 years and I gotta say, passed by today and this area looks like a whole different animal.

Its like night and day, you can feel the new energy thats about to be here between Houston House, Sky House, Alliance, the new Holiday Inn and the light rail, this is gonna be a VIBRANT area soon, and with more to come!!!

    I cant wait!

  5. ...only in very select areas of the real estate market. Since it is Nancy's actual job to report real estate news, I'm confident she has many more sources than I'll ever have. That is why I said what I said about Nancy.....I haven't heard anything on Chevron. And in my opinion, sources such as the Houston Chron are a lot more reputable than anyone on a forum, even myself. True, there are many people on this forum that have the inside scoop before news outlets ever cover it, it is still good to get confirmation from Biz Journals, Houston Chron, etc.

I think he was referring to himself, and he is right. He doesnt disclose who he works for or what he does but hes always had the early scoop and hes never been wrong.
