  1. You were right. This is going to be a Spinal Clinic. A section of the structure will be rented. Wish it was a nicer development with some architecture to it.
  2. Worker sues bar after beer bottle explodes, blinding him By LAUREN MATHIS Copyright 2011 HOUSTON CHRONICLE July 14, 2011, 5:40PM A 19-year-old Houston man who says he was blinded in his right eye after a beer bottle exploded in his face has filed a lawsuit against the Heights area sports bar where the incident allegedly happened. On June 10 while working at Sawyer Park sports bar on Washington Avenue, Antonio Garcia Tax was loading bottles of Dos Equis in a cooling container, when a bottle exploded after making contact with the ice solution, according to a lawsuit filed this month in Harris County. The impact sent pieces of the glass bottle directly into Tax's right eye. He was taken to Ben Taub Hospital where he had eye surgery. Due to Tax's injury, he has not been able to work, the lawsuit said. Waverly Nolley, Tax's lawyer, says they're suing for $3 million. According to the lawsuit, Tax is suing Sawyer because it owned, possessed and controlled the beer bottle and container that disabled his eye. The lawsuit alleges Sawyer failed at training employees about safety procedures when loading glass beer bottles. Officials with the sports bar did not return calls for comment. Tax is also suing the Houston Distributing Company, for transporting the dangerous and defective bottle to Sawyer, according to court documents.
  3. Encouraging to see how the sounds walls are coming up north and south of the new feeder roads.
  4. Noticed a sign from David Weekley on the property directly across from the West End Park. Will be looking forward to seeing how this development progresses. With the park improving and this new development, it should help the surrounding area(s) continue to improve. So far the main builder in the area has been Parra Builders. The David Weekly's townhouses are priced in the high 200 range. This should work out well, as at present new townhouses by Parra are in the mid to high 300's, and the houses by Cornerstone Builder are in the low to mid 400's. Guess the Quiet Zone has enabled builders to make a case to develop this area North of the railway tracks in a bigger way. Here are more details on the David Weekly development. If anyone has more details on the floor plans, etc., will be looking forward to having a look at them. David Weekley Homes is excited to announce we will begin building in Houston’s affluent Rice Military community at 1401 Patterson in Winter 2011. Located at the corner of Patterson and Eli, this private, gated community will feature our award-winning detached homes, priced from the high $200s. You’ll also enjoy: 19 homes available! Square footages ranging from 2,000 to 2,350 Gated community Nearby park Beautiful, 200-year-old oak tree is the anchor of this community Prime Houston location just minutes from Downtown, The Galleria and the Texas Medical Center

Right now it just spells more and more trouble for our neighborhood.
  7. "The Counter" has an awesome Veggie burger. Vegetarian Yoga Teacher can even add sprouts, greens, carrot strings, feta cheese and all the other healthy stuff... Enjoy!!!
  8. I like the place and the people are definitely friendly, but at the same time, for what one gets do not feel the food is worth the price. I hope they reduce their prices and in the long run get more customers and eventually do even better.
  9. SilverJK and Sowanome, thanks for the feedback and for staying on topic. The lot is empty, has decent access, and is located close to Heighs between I10 and Washington. I know a couple of years ago land in the area was close to $32-$40 per sf ft and wanted to get feedback if the downturn, plans to build Walmart have reduced the prices. I guess only time will tell. Appreciate the feedback from this forum.
  10. Would like to get your feedback on land prices in the Rice Military / West End area. Is $30/sq.ft a reasonable price or is that high or on the low side. Will be interesting to get feedback on this question now and 5-6 years later once all the development on Washington has taken place, and Yale is redone with the new Walmart and the fancy gas lamps on the repaved bridge across the Bayou!!!
  11. I need a Master Plumber to disconnect water / sewage for an old house / shed located in the Washington Heights area, and then a company / contractor that takes care of demolition. Nothing fancy; the place is raised on blocks so there is no foundation, etc., to deal with. Any recommendations. Thanks.
  12. Does anyone know the procedure of applying for a demolition permit such as, where the form can be downloaded, what is needed, how long it takes, etc. This an old house / shed that has not been lived in for years and is not liveable in its current state. Gas, water, etc., has been disconnected. This is far from a historic place, so not to worry! Thanks.
