Yes, I first noticed the curtains earlier this week.  May be unrelated to the development, though, as I'm sure they'll gut the place before beginning work.

You're right, they didnt look related to construction. They look really old and thin, too. Really odd because of the kind they are and the timing. Strange, but probably irrelevant.

apparently CP has a 6 month no compete which sucks.  that said it's not hard to envision him back at 610 afterwards.

someone would have to be fired. they have a lot of hosts. 2 for the first show, 3 for the next and 3 after that. I can't really imagine how he'd fit in.

Have an opportunity to speak with Midway in the next few weeks about this development. What would HAIF'rs give as input on a project with this much open land and with the opportunity to make this a landmark site?

Dont really care what goes on it, I just would like it to feel integrated with the streets and feel as public as possible. Avoid anything that feels like it's an enclosed development. Put as many streets on it as possible. Don't build ugly garages.

  4. I'm really not trying to be that guy who thinks just because he has seen it in person that he is the authoritative opinion, but the tiles do not look good at all in person. The green is great, just not the tiles.

Who here that has seen it in person likes it? Just curious.

Internal Chevron email a few weeks ago.  They are leaving the Bellaire facility and moving people downtown (a few will go to Briarpark facility).

Is there a lot of open office space downtown? Surely that doesn't mean they're building the tower, does it?

Looks like they are back to taking soil samples again in the adjacent parking lot.  They were actively drilling in one corner and have another section of the lot coned off for additional samples.  These are both different corners from where they were taking soil samples last time (last year if I remember right).  Wonder if the rumors of a parking garage going here still have merit?

Are you serious, a garage was rumored? If that's the case and there are no future plans to build on top of it, it will totally cripple the potential these surrounding blocks have.

More likely, the block will have a highrise and the residents of the Marlowe who face east will be able to pass biscuits out their window to the occupants of the tower next door.

Thats nothing new. Look at the Texaco renovation for instance. The future tower/garage will block the view of many north side apartments. I also wouldn't be surprised if Hines' downtown apartment tower might have the same issue when El Big Bad is someday torn down for a tower.
