What if they had practice fields stacked on top of each other? That might be pretty dope. I see no reason why their complex couldn't be vertical.
And why do they need to relocate the practice facility? Seems perfect where it is right now.

Yes, I first noticed the curtains earlier this week. May be unrelated to the development, though, as I'm sure they'll gut the place before beginning work.
You're right, they didnt look related to construction. They look really old and thin, too. Really odd because of the kind they are and the timing. Strange, but probably irrelevant.

They can't find their windex
On my way in this morning I saw a girl cleaning a window but the rest were still dirty. I didn't think to look again during lunch.

The bottom floor has curtains in the Windows? Are those new?

for some strange reason the bottom level windows are still filthy. not sure what they're waiting on.

I don't know if it's the same spot but I saw the same thing a few weeks ago and all they did was cut out a very small section of the parking lot leading me to think it would just be a storage area.
check that. Just saw you posted that 5 hours ago. Did you see the boundaries of the line?

apparently CP has a 6 month no compete which sucks. that said it's not hard to envision him back at 610 afterwards.
someone would have to be fired. they have a lot of hosts. 2 for the first show, 3 for the next and 3 after that. I can't really imagine how he'd fit in.

This area, standing in the middle of DG, is feeling awesome.
I'd be a little surprised if this area doesn't start booming more than it already is if/when the market picks up again.

The pedestrian experience and feel for this place is one of the best in downtown, despite the top of the building not being the best. Finally walked by this afternoon.

Have an opportunity to speak with Midway in the next few weeks about this development. What would HAIF'rs give as input on a project with this much open land and with the opportunity to make this a landmark site?
Dont really care what goes on it, I just would like it to feel integrated with the streets and feel as public as possible. Avoid anything that feels like it's an enclosed development. Put as many streets on it as possible. Don't build ugly garages.

I think this is a no brainier. Parking underneath made sense no matter the plan.

Did they copy and paste from previous articles?

I'm really not trying to be that guy who thinks just because he has seen it in person that he is the authoritative opinion, but the tiles do not look good at all in person. The green is great, just not the tiles.
Who here that has seen it in person likes it? Just curious.

/\ agreed Rice is unlikely to get in, but they were indeed mentioned before. (Well, maybe not by our local "journalists", but I know I saw them on the list somewhere.)
Oh ok, I must have missed that. Thanks.

It was reported today Rice is one of a handful of teams selected to make presentations to join the Big 12. Its extremely likely they don't get in, but kind of shocking to hear they're in the running considering they were never mentioned before.

Third rendering down - to the left of the bluish-gray Doubletree Hotel - is that the mythical 5 Allen Center we see?
Looks like it. Good observation

They must be repairing or fixing them up, right? I can't imagine them thinking it looks better without them

Internal Chevron email a few weeks ago. They are leaving the Bellaire facility and moving people downtown (a few will go to Briarpark facility).
Is there a lot of open office space downtown? Surely that doesn't mean they're building the tower, does it?

A tweet by an ESPN personality thought aloud that UH might concede to UTs expansion plans in Houston for entrance into the Big 12. I think UH could do big things if it gets in the Big 12. Really excited.

Looks like they are back to taking soil samples again in the adjacent parking lot. They were actively drilling in one corner and have another section of the lot coned off for additional samples. These are both different corners from where they were taking soil samples last time (last year if I remember right). Wonder if the rumors of a parking garage going here still have merit?
Are you serious, a garage was rumored? If that's the case and there are no future plans to build on top of it, it will totally cripple the potential these surrounding blocks have.

I don't hate the color, actually I really like it. It's the fact that they're bathroom tiles that kills me. Maybe if they polish them up or put some artsy paintings they'll look better.

More likely, the block will have a highrise and the residents of the Marlowe who face east will be able to pass biscuits out their window to the occupants of the tower next door.
Thats nothing new. Look at the Texaco renovation for instance. The future tower/garage will block the view of many north side apartments. I also wouldn't be surprised if Hines' downtown apartment tower might have the same issue when El Big Bad is someday torn down for a tower.

Is it a tax issue that's driving large corporations out of downtown? Or, do they just not like the downtown environment?
My simple guess is rents and construction costs. They also build closer in the burbs where most of their employees live.

Is the tower on the left the new office design or is that an existing building?
The base for the hotel doesn't seem a little oversized for the tower portion to you guys?
