  1. thank you. people leave plenty of soda cans, bottled tea, fast food wrappers and cigarette ends lying around...
  2. i wondered that myself, do you have the address? then we could look it up in HCAD for some lead info.
  3. good heavens! you say this and mention that you have had personal dealings with him. is there no way you can give a generalized non-selfincriminating example?
  4. there was a woman i worked with who's nanny would drive her child to work twice daily to "feed". we would tell clients she was in a meeting and she would usually take an empty conference room to do it. as the kiddo got a little older, we all chipped in for a breast pump. after that, only the woman at the head desk would have to deal with it --- because the nanny would pick up the pumpings from the front desk. i'm under the opinion that it is a part of life but so are other things that are done in private. like diaper changes. iv'e been in a restaurant were someone changed their baby in the travel seat at the table... it was not smelling but --- not appetizing. i've seen that one other time where a parent changed a very dirty diaper under the table at a work function. caring for babies in a family setting is different than in a public setting.
  5. i get the feeling the uppity overall guy wasn't with AAA. actually, he was pretty fancy and the AAA fellas have been polite before. i almost get the feeling that he was the man with the salvage rights that he referred to.
  6. first of all, i was there today and spoke briefly with another HAIF person. i didn't identify myself at the time which was rude and i apologize. if it was you, please PM me. anyhow, we were both there for the same reason: bricks. this morning i may have found a few. yet, when i returned an hour or so later there was another fella in overalls, hard hat, glasses and a pony tail. he was not standing with the demolition company, he was at the side looking for pieces, within the gate. we was going to fresh piles of rubble and removing the detail work with a crow bar and placing them in a pile. he had a dust mask on so i made eye contact with him and tried to get his attention. i was interested to see if he was in fact with a preservation society or a resale person. i called out to him with no response. the other person who was there went over to the pile and pointed at the stack politely. the overalled man waved his hand for them to step back. when we did not leave, he approached us. we asked if this was a preservation effort of some sort and he wouldn't say... he did say that "he worked for someone with exclusive rights to pieces recovered from the building". he said they were not allowed to take it out, only to retrieve it once it fell. i said i was happy that he was salvaging the pieces and they weren't just going into the regular bin to be hauled off. he asked the other HAIFer and i if we had arrived together and i said no, we were interested in maybe getting a brick, for nostalgic purposes. he then let us know that we could go to a brick retailer off of I-10 and get the same bricks... which would lead me to believe that he's not a preservation kind of guy. we mentioned that we just wanted "a brick" from the building for nostalgic/romanticized reasons. he then said the person with the salvage rights (not sure if that's the term) "would be pretty mad if people were taking things, not mad but it wouldn't be good". he also stated that "some one or some people were arrested saturday morning for taking bricks. not just bricks but wood and metal items". is there a way to verify if someone has been recently arrested at the site for looting/ trespassing, saturday or otherwise. during the time we spoke to him the demolition men were not around so i could not verify the gentleman with them.
  7. what happened to the old fashioned caffeine: coffee?
  8. just found it odd that someone would share something as intensely personal as that, unless it was already commonly known. quite unusual.
  9. did the source say whether the work had been publicly displayed?
  10. i thought i had it until the second photo. i know that area well but can't place this one. the large lot proved my answer was wrong... is that little bit of pond/lake peaking through the leaves on the right side of photo #2?
  11. i have a bunch of old objectivism philosophy books left from my ex... was about to ship 'em your way!
  12. thought it was funny! the photo is from little britain... an awesome show if you haven't seen it!
  13. before i go reading those (which i will) looks as though, i entered what i thought was his last name in the HAIF search query but it was spelled wrong previously leading to a copy/paste issue... here i go to read several dozen pages on the guy...
  14. i my friend had a seizure dog. it was very kind and loyal dog. people would be hesitant of it (because of it's breed) but would quickly defrost after seeing how sweet it was. i didn't know about seizure dogs until i met her. they don't let them in as many places as a seeing eye dog and i would get left behind with it outside while she shopped. it was a good deal, as i don't like shopping much. the dog could actually tell about 20 minutes before an episode and we would rush to her apartment or pull over in the car to wait out the seizure. it would stay with her during the actual seizure and since she lived alone it was comforting to have it there when she came out of it. it never did anything abrupt or skidish. animals, like people, can be totally screwed over when raised by their owners/parents .
  15. thank you (as always) for the detective work/info sevfiv!
  16. phooey to obligations! at least there's pie.
  17. oh no! i saw them working on that building and was happy that they were renovating it. then i ride by and see the outside has been mostly altered (large windows added) and the first floor stuccoed over... i will try to take a photo soon if no one else does...
