its not a water problem...that was cleaned up very quickly. There currently is no floor down, and there is a ever present smell of dog hair in the room..its worse when the floor gets wet. I have vacuumed, and mopped. Once the floor is down I doubt you will smell it, but still it bothers me and if I dont remove the smell, I will always think about it evertime I enter the room. I will try a pet store.

So after recieving some water in a room (ex-garage) that I assume housed some dogs at a earlier time, there is a dog smell that will not go away. It has to be coming from the concrete, as it occured another time the concrete was wet. Is there a way to eliminate it other than sealing the concrete with a primer of some sort?

oh ya, the other thing is I never recieved a notice of the meeting..I noticed it when I pulled up the actual file on the site. I would imagine that info is accurate though.

I recently filed a complaint after recently purchasing a house and the seeing the appraisel went up by 22%. I realize this is normal, but after looking at the report closely it says the house was remodeled in 2007 (built in 1968), which is not true. It may have been repainted, and some mud spread here and there, but thats about it. When I went to pull comps in the immediate neighborhood, the new value was exactly in line with everyone elses, so I dont have any good comps to use...the only thing that bothers me at this point is the remodel note. I really dont have time to go to the hearing tomorrow and feel its a waste unless the remodel note will somehow affect me later. Any suggestions on how to proceed? Is it worth my time?

same in garden villas...some tree limbs, but still have power.

We'll be rocking in Woodland Heights. I'm sure we'll loose power, but we have plenty of coolers and ice, planning on getting the smoker going on Sunday after IKE is hopefully long gone. Anyone interested in ribs, chicken, salmon, and pork chops, let me know. Also have a few coors lights handy.......
I will ck back on this after the storm

Are any of the wireless systems worthwhile? We have an old house that does not have any (even rudimentary) system and I think installing anything but a wireless system would be prohibitively expensive. Also - I think one of the options I've seen is the cellular connection for alerting the police if the landline is down/cut.
hardwire the alarm "brain" and go wireless with the sensors. cell connection is the way to go..are people on this forum really still using landlines? its not hard to cut a phone line then enter. its not expensive either. how much is a damaged door/jamb, or broken window worth? I dont mind 35$ a month at all.

the trucks actually have great food as long as your not trying to watch your health. It scares me though that they dont have running water.

heres the way I look at alarms...it gives you a few second after initial entrance to arm and protect yourself and property should you feel threatened. It doesnt stop or prevent anything. It MAY make your house a little unattractive with the stickers/signs (even humans pick the path of least resistance). So look for whatever will alert you the fastest upon initial entry.

that strip center is gross...the smell of plastic coming from that shoe store, the bum with a lisp that talks super fast, the amount of people leaving lil ceasers with the box already soaked in grease before they leave the store, and the block buster with a security guard that looks like a thug.

Good point about the garage - I wish we had a motion sensor or at least a door sensor in our detached. That's the only place we've been hit, didn't know anything til morning. I have thought about at least putting a noise maker out there, but at this point it would be a royal pain to hook something up to the system in the house.
orrrr you could put a fake metal handle on the garage door, isolated with rubber washers and run 120 to it.
wireless motion detector would work also. they work up to 100ft I think

I have had alarms for quite a while now..mu suggestion is wireless motion sensors in the house..usually only need two or three...just look for areas where someone would initially enter. Most alarms come with one motion and two door sensors. Put the door sensors on whatever doors would be most likely to be used in a break in. Motion sensors are activated as soon as you enter a room. Window sensors are a waste. You cant stop someone from entering, only scare the heck out of them when they do.

why no picture of the outside and the yard?

do you have the link to HAR? That may explain everything.

this thread is so weird to me, althought I am straight, I dont understand what defines being gay to the point you wouldnt be accepted in any neighborhood? My wife and I recently purchased a home and have not had one person say hi to us yet. So I think it just depends on your disposition. You cripple yourself by acknowledging your someone different...your really not. Move anywhere you want and just get along (well maybe not Highlands Tx).

This is Miyako on Kirby, I dont know about any others. We went the other night and I was very surprised at some of the changes. A few interior walls were removed in order to cram in more tables. It made the place look kinda cheap. The weirdest thing was the mgrs (?) There were 3 guys standing around that really looked like a pit boss' off a movie. The quickly walked around halfway looking at tables, but not really doing much. We waited for out check for quite a while before one asked if we needed anything (it was his third lap and I had that look on my face). Has Miyako changed owners? If so I am not impressed whatsoever...and just for the record, after going to the STAR restraunt and eating all the sushi I only go to Miyako to appease my wife. Seems 40$ sushi some how taste better than 8$ sushi.

there is P&M (Im pretty sure thats the name) 75$ and they cleaned the coils and cleaned the crap out of the bottom trap. Its necessary to keep a good system going. The coils get stuff built up and need to be cleaned. If you call someone make sure they actually have employees and not just contracting your call out.
