  1. Yip. I saw that. Oh well. Looks like the only way I will KNOW what's going there is to go down there in person. Unfortuantely, I will then have at my proximity and disposal all of the bars on Market Square and main street in case nothing is going on at Jones Plaza. In which case, I will be forced to drink at Market Square. Damn it. I hate it when that happens.
  2. Thanks for the links. Unfortunately, none of them show anything going on tonight, Thursday May 5th. That seems odd to me, becuase I remember Thursdays being "THE" night on the plaza. I know Tuesdays and Wednesdays is Salsa, Merenge, Tejano nights. But what's going on tonight??
  3. Anyone know of an up to date schedule of events? There is a site called partyontheplaza.com, but i couldnt find anything there except bar listings...nothing much to do with jones plaza. Particularly, anything going on tonight, May 5th, Thursday? Thanks.
  4. Funny, I don't hear anyone complaining about the Rice lofts. They are rental units. Build it.
  5. Damit. Well, so much for bragging rights.
  6. Yea but, that's exactly what it is.
  7. Yea. That sounds about what I remember. By the way, did you ever move back to Houston? Ok, back to the subject!!
  8. I believe, if I recall, that the whole issue there was changing the address of the GRB to something other than
  9. Ummm...can we NOT use "main@dallas" as the address please? How' bout main@polk? Yea, main@polk. That's better.
  10. The thing that is bugging me is: Why is Bayou Place not brimming with activity? I mean, this new development is pretty much like Bayou Place, and BP has more synergy to tap off from, mainly the theater district and its proximity, now, to the historic north downtown district and all the clubs there. But then again, I guess you could say "build it and they will come". maybe the south downtown area will attract the midtown crowd, especially if there is a destination like a large book store. I want to see this happen, but I am worried that it will be as dead as Bayou Place can sometimes be.
  11. "...He is survived by his long time partner, David..." Did I miss something here?
  12. Of course. Because they have only one Mexican...
  13. Is it me? Or does that small two story building behind the West building look like it's not there anymore? And if so, why is there not a gap where it should be? It looks like the Stowers building was expanded towards main to fill the gap, or something.
  14. Here's the history of the iconic River Oaks Bank Building located at 2001 Kirby Drive in Houston. It was built in 1970 and the architects were Wilson, Morris, Crain and Anderson. Here's the Loopnet listing: https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/2001-Kirby-Dr-Houston-TX/18010069/
  15. You ate her family? "... a census taker once tried to test me...I ate his LIVER...with some FAVA beans...and a NICE CHIANTI........Fvv-Fvv-Fvv-Fvv-Fvv-Fvv-Fvvvvv...." - Dr. Hannibal Lecter
  16. I guess maybe I just like that building. I would probably have a differnt opinion if it looked like the Mercer. I dont know why I like it, I just do. It has a mediteranean feel to it, almost, with that dome (I assume its going to be gold in color). I like the way the color of the building flows with some of those older buildings in that side of downtown, not to mention MMP. I like the features of it also. But that's just me.
  17. Ok....with one exception: Please, no more Mercers. Thanks.
  18. Flooing? I think Coog just coined a new word. Now, lets find a nice definition for it.
  19. Hey, got an idea. Why not allow local artists to set up shop in Market Square, sellling art, hand-made trinkets, etc? I saw this in a small park in Mexico City and it was the epicenter of the entire area. The place made the whole area bustle with activity.
  20. If the intent is to bring people downtown, then all I can say is kudos for doing things that are different. Sure, there will be skeptics. But, if this brings, say, 100 people on average during a normally dead-time, and those people visit restaurants and such, then its all good.
