I was only there one time a few years ago so it wouldn't be fair to say Grand Lux sux. I do remember the décor was a bit over the top. I don't remember the food and service being good or bad but I never felt compelled to return.
haha you know why Grand Lux was created right? The Venetian in Las Vegas wanted to open with a Cheesecake Factory but CF thought they needed to create a new restaurant to match the glitz and glamor of Vegas, so GL was born! haha!
YES it is indeed over the top but i do like going there...although to be honest its more out of convenience too since my townhouse is directly behind it! haha! (but always good service and love sitting at the bar for usually no wait and quick service especially)

the windows are huge so if it is bright outside it is pretty bright inside especially if sitting in one of the awesome booths by the huge windows

i went on a saturday 2 weekends ago at 130pm and there were 4 tables taken and that was it....well, i wish it the best but personally i didnt like anything about it so i wont be going back...but again, maybe that is just me... we shall see!

Yeah I think the location was a bigger part of Little Bigs' success then they realize. I for one am much less likely to go to their new location.
truer words were never said...i finally decided to visit the new location and it lost of all its charm, coolness and oddly enough the food didnt taste as good haha....moving was a huge mistake... r.i.p.

Speaking of exhibitions there is a group show opening tomorrow night at Williams Tower featuring some of Houston best.
I'm included and I'd love to see some Haifers there. I'll be showing a large new work on paper intitled
"Sprawl".
WOW awesome and congrats....i can walk across the street to it! can you give me more details? time/where to check in etc?

i cannot wait to see the facelift and all the new amenities...i just wish they would take away some of the features that make it look like a cruise ship as i know that is what they were originally going for when built but now it just makes it look outdated.
but again, not to end on a bad note, i am super excited about this project! i love this area of Houston!

Hey just wanted to let everyone know that North Italia opened at Blvd Place a couple of weeks ago...
i personally love the atmosphere, lighting, food and (maybe) most importantly the service (and staff) are incredible! (fair pricing as well)
Since my work and home are both walking distance i have already been about 6 times and from appetizers, to happy hour to brunch, everything really has been excellent! (personal faves: grilled artichoke, margherita pizza (just 8 bucks at happy hour!), chicken parmesan and the olive oil cake for dessert! (oh and the truffle garlic bread and the vanilla marscapone/lemon curd donuts are wowsa!!!)
(*and they have a super cool indoor/outdoor bar perfect for good weather days or nightime)

and here is a little cool fact/article:
see ya there

spoke to a rep for iPic theaters and they said the iPic River Oaks in this plaza, is on target for a fall opening! it will be so great to have a theater back in the Galleria area and walking distance from where i live! i will watch for an exact date of the opening and post it once it is confirmed!

I just wanted to let everyone know that North Italia http://northitaliarestaurant.com/locations/houston/ opened up the other day and i LOVE it! great food, good prices (3 to 6pm happy hour m-f and ALL DAY SUNDAY!) i really like the decor, then the atmosphere and the food is really great (margherita pizza, the roasted artichoke and the olive oil cake are all favorites so far...) but its the STAFF that really makes the place...the bartenders especially are personable and cool and have had a blast a few times already sitting at the bar and hanging out drinking, eating and meeting some super cool people. check it out! (south side/middle of the building)

Honestly I am glad SOMETHING is being put in front of the old Galleria portion....the "luxury jewel box" as its called will definitely cover up the old ugly galleria...i have been dying for someone to just powerwash the facade of the Galleria at the very least haha! I love the Galleria but the north east end to middle has need a facelife for sometime now... hopefully the rest of the galleria will catch up to the luxury jewel box and what the north west side is going to look like!
