  1. has there been any news on the new development for the kendall branch library? it is supposed to be situated on the northwest corner of the bayou at eldridge but I drove by the site and unless theres more land than what it looks the site looks about as big as their present one. the project is supposed to mix in terry hershey with the new building. hopefully its goin to look great! any news?
  2. the memorial hospital system owns this property along with 11.8 acres near on the i-10 frontage rd. are there any projects in the works? the land is being cleared for something... the church (spring branch comm), thank god (ironic?), is mixing in the use of trees but hopefully the entire project will. any news?
  3. la centerra? yea its under construction right now the other one is going through red tape as usual. but theyre on the katy board of haif
  4. yes st thomas has grown on me. I love being a student and not a number to the administration. my points still stand though. we need to stop enrolling everybody who applies. merit would be a start. that post office building on richmond and graustark needs to be captured by the st thomas endowment and revitalized into a new gym, architectural studies, math studies, and a whole lot more. but we should not tear it down (even though renovations would likely cost more) the building is one of a kind. 1925 I believe was the year it was built. campus involvement needs to be priority no 1 at ust. the speakers and events we have had in this year alone (Aug-present) have been incredible. there has been a stellar academia enrichment this year and it is showing on campus. what else needs to be done? ust alums need to start getting involved in the school they graduated from (job opportunities, internships, mentors, and of course the ubiquitous monetary donations)
  5. but hes soo cute. why do you want him to resign?
  6. wow I cant believe I mispelled 'here' but thanks. it is on the golf course though and gated (unlike seven meadows- unless in the estate sec)
  7. didnt know if anyone on the board lived hear. just wondering how nice the neighborhood is.
  8. if your in the houston market dont you want people with experience from inside houston? vegas, florida and the others are high rise sanctuaries but houston is sprawl. think the texas ideal: big everything. people would rather want huge lots with great gardens than a balcony. high rise builders in houston should try for the older market, the empty nesters and price accordingly. units starting at $1 mil dont really suit the retiree.
  9. wasnt turnberry the builder behind the orion? if so, what makes you think this one will get off the ground? I went to the orion site and they still have the sales office there gathering dust. I think people still work in it because there were a few cars outside and the promo video for the orion was still playing.
  10. yea this thing is dead. the only people who can build high rises in houston and come out on top are either randall davis (manhattan, empire, cosmopolitan, renoir) or giorgio some italian last name (interfin- Montebello, Villa d'este, uptown park, four leaf, etc) who built the huntingdon and who built the houstonian? because those guys most have lost a lot of money.
  11. I heard on another topic on this site. thats why I asked. I didnt know if they were talking about the randalls in town and country or not. but if they put an HEB at i-10 and bunker hill it will greatly hamper randall's market share for that area. hopefully they werent talking about that one. is the one on voss closing down? because the topic spoke of a randalls in the general area of Memorial (77024) to be closing...
  12. this post was closed but never answered. is an HEB goin on the newly cleared lot? the answer in the katy forum was not really an answer rather a question. and is the randalls in town and country village really closing down?
  13. I was talking about when I went there. I dont know about now.
  14. nottingham country is good if you like shabby building. contrary to what people say or believe, kickerillo is not a good builder. NOT A GOOD BUILDER!!! roof leaks, cracked slabs, and everything else thats horrible. imagine the worst in a house and that is kickerillo. he has gotten better from where he was in the 80s. Marywood and Lakes of Parkway have some well built custom homes but most of the specs are major reworks. Twin Lakes was a bust for him as well but I mean hes Kickerillo people on here will still love him because he is Texan, Italian, and hes 'been building homes for 50 years.' "What can I build for you?" ...being worth over $100 mil has to give you some clout, but he doesnt scare me. even when he does walk in front of the bathroom window naked, seeing how I live across the street from him. 4 words, hung like a horse. haha and everyone does drugs in Katy ISD. Trust me on that fact. Besides when I was going to school it was Katy grows it, Mayde Creek sells it, and Taylor buys it. Now its split on buying between Taylor, Cinco, and Seven Lakes and on selling between Mayde and Morton. Katy still holds the market on growing though. Taylor is an exemplemary school seeing how when I went there to be in the first quarter (600 kids in our graduating class) you had to have at least a 3.87-9. I dont know about it now, but thats how it was and I graduated in 2003. also if you want kids who smoke weed go to Mayde, want chew go to Katy, want coke and anything harder the kids that do that are Taylor, Cinco, and Seven Lakes. They get into harder drugs as you go south of the freeway. again, you can trust me on that fact
  15. its even more expensive to live outside of the villages in the energy corridor area. the tax rate jumps to around 3.29 from 2.9-3.0 because of Katy ISD
  16. BP expansion, rising home prices...any takers?
  17. the memorial area was gift of land from memorial park to hwy 6. it was master planned as was the woodlands. the bering family owned the land which was bordered by i-10 to the north, voss to the west, westheimer to the south, and chimney rock/silber to the east. it was all flood land and rice farms before the build up. there is only one stretch of memorial which looks semi-bad and thats from dairy ashford to kirkwood, but holm is planning on changing that by creating center medians with mature trees, etc. also something which should have not been done was the army core of engineers re-structuring of buffalo bayou. its like a straight line from hwy 6 to the beltway and then it starts to look better. but if you want to build a new in memorial tear down/screw over the low income housing residents which are bordered by i-10 to the north, tully to the west, memorial to the south, and bateswood to the east and construct a new residential community. the apartment owners are looking to sell...
  18. they do clean it up but yea the graffiti on the store front just past st thomas has yet to be cleaned. its been there since 2004. the bum traffic through the area is awesome because of the covenant house down the way on yoakum and hawthorne. st thomas as I have experienced does not really have that much of vagrancy problems because of ust's security force. although, this statuary is at the corner of montrose and alabama hopefully it will remain unscathed.
  19. you need around 60 years of good press. memorial is an established community and thats what makes all the difference. new master planned communities just need time and thats something that takes well...time.
  20. st thomas usually has problems near Richmond not Alabama. this piece will add another great work to the university's already stellar architecture. what st tommy needs to do is tear down that manufacturing plant/cooling plant or whatever on the corner of graustark and richmond. anyone with me? it could be turned into a great auditorium or gym/tranquil park on the south end of the school
  21. I wonder what this will do to housing values in the area? skyrocket? hopefully... the construction of the buildings and the widening of the grisby along with the contruction of hwy 6 and i-10 is going to be awesome for traffic flow. I mean theres not going to be any amount of traffic during construction (at all). ...sarcasm rules
  22. yes villa verde and the crap which surrounds it has got to go! what about the stuff of perthshire, westchester, and nottingham oaks?
  23. are there any updates on who is goin to occupy the center at 15455 memorial dr? it is currently leased by Cafe Benedicte (Lynn's steakhouse new restaurant), a day spa, and a dry cleaners. they have tons more space available but I didnt know if there was any news. my thoughts- a jamba juice, cell phone company, clothing store, etc
  24. you can get a great place in seven meadows for under 200k the party scene in katy = other ppl's houses club scene = dead (hush is horrible. besides for that time that they had vanilla ice- awesome) for work- energy or doctor (choose one)
  25. yea thats like all private schools.... either your rich or your chris o'donnel in scent of a woman you have to get past that and look at the academia of the school and the fact that you can use to get into virtually any school in the US (if you made the grades)
