  1. One other bit I forgot to add - signs for JE DUNN were on the lot, next to the trailers (though not setup on posts yet). I should have looked before my last post, but they apparently are the company managing the construction of Regest Square. http://www.jedunn.com/project_details/C-69322-4 clh
  2. For those waiting for construction to begin on Regent Square, I came across what I hope is an encouraging sign. On land owned by Regent Square development at the SE corner of W Dallas and Rochow St (about two blocks east of Dunlavy) several (about six) construction offices/trailers have been set up. The number of trailers indicates to me a very sizeable project team. I have to think that this can only be for a development the size of Regent Square. clh
  3. The Chronicle is reporting this evening that Hanover Co. is planning a 37 story residential tower at BLVD Place, near the corner of San Felipe and Post Oak. Construction is scheduled to begin this fall and the building will be designed by Solomon Cordwell Buenz of Chicago. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/business/5783827.html
  4. I agree that the land area seems small for any significant building, unless the developer also plans to acquire the strip center just north of these properties.
  5. I actually have a copy of the paper and the web content is for subscribers only. Not much more was said in the article (it was only two paragraphs) other than the property was under contract to an undisclosed buyer and would not officially comment on plans.
  6. The Feb 1-7 HBJ Citybeat section mentions the pending sale of property just south of W Alabama on Shepherd. The property in question includes the Jamail real estate office and adjoing Fly High Little Bunny shop along with two houses behind the property. The article indicates that a high rise development is planned for the sight. Has anyone heard anything along these lines?
  7. This looks interesting - thanks for posting the application to the forum. The City of Houston has yet to respond to my request for the application via their web based request system. CLH
  8. If it is in the City of Houston, you can go to the Planning Commission Agenda at the Houston Planning Commission. You then click on the "View Planning Commission Meeting Schedule" link and select the meeting date on which the Variance will be considered. You have to know the meeting date, which is listed on the Variance Notice Sign posted at the property. The meeing agenda will have item numbers for each issue to be considered, and you can submit a request to have the application for the item you are interested in emailed to you. I have only done this once (today) and I am still waiting on the email, so I don't know what the turn around time is. Not the most user friendly and open means of conveying this information, but I guess it is better than nothing. Alternatively, you can call 311 and request the information, or I would assume go to the Planning Commission and ask them in person. I would like to not that the meeting agendas don't seem to be available until about two weeks prior to the meeting date. I hope this helps. chris
  9. I have uncovered a little more info regarding this Variance: It is on the January 3 planning commision agenda The submitter is Vernon G. Henry & Associates which is apprently a planning firm The owner of the land is listed as 1902 Westheimer, L.P. & Demo Costa Pr I have requested a copy of the application via email - when I get more info I'll post it to this board. Chris
  10. That is the one - directly acrosss the street from the former Dietrichs. I didn't have a chance to drive around the block to see if other parcels of land are included, such as adjoining houses. I'll try and do that tomorrow. On a related note, is there anyway to view Variance reqeusts online at the City of Houston website?
  11. I was driving down Westheimer tonight and noticed a "Variance Request" sign in front of the old Martha Turner building at the corner of Westheimer and Hazard. The name on the sign indicated the development was called "One Origin Center". Has anyone heard anything about this?
  12. I believe they were started by ADV Films, which is based in Houston and is involved in the import of Anime - in addition to the cable channel, they do dubbing of Japanese Anime for the US market. A friend of my wife is a producer there - from what she has told us it sounds like a pretty sophisticated operation. You can get a sense of the scope of their business at the corporate profile on their website: http://www.advfilms.com/FILMSabout.asp
  13. Actually, there is one cable network headquarted and produced here - The Anime Network (www.theanimenetwork.com). I think they are out on the NW side somewhere. They also import a large amount of the Anime for the US market I believe. Probably a bit more "niche" than most, but a network none the less.
  14. I heard that this was a new parking garage for Conoco Phillips
  15. you might also want to check out the city of houston website at: http://pdinet.pd.ci.houston.tx.us/permits/...itsSold.asp#top It's not the most user friendly sight, but you can search for issued building permits.
