Grocery stores are exactly what downtown needs. It will fuel more residential development which in turn will fuel more restaurants and more nightlife. It will be great!

The property can be forfeited by the government. The landlord is also aiding a felon in his crime by allowing the landlord's property to be the hub of criminal activity. Jail time and forfeiture of property is not worth the monthly rent check. Get rid of the tenant.

We're in the Dallas district of the federal reserve. There are only 12 branches of the Federal Reserve Bank. For some reason, the government assigned a city name to each of the branches instead of just a simple number. If you have any old greenbacks, they were stamped by each federal reserve bank. Some say Dallas, Chicago, New York, etc...

It's a well known fact of science that once someone moves into Dallas County, they automatically become pretentious, plastic snobs. The only way their hearts continue to beat is through an injection administered by their plastic surgeons during a routine, weekly visit. It's called "Dallas Juice." It's true! I've seen it happen. People that move to Dallas are plastic or become plastic because there are chemicals that exist in Dallas county that you can breathe only if you have a primary residence in the county. People that live 3 feet away from Dallas County are down to Earth, personable people. Dallasites are snobs. It just makes sense!

The Cowboys have been in Irving for 20+ years. They were never the "Irving Cowboys." Why would they just now change their name to the Arlington Cowboys, since they've never been the Irving Cowboys? They will remain the Dallas Cowboys. Arlington paid for Dallas' stadium. 'Nuff said.

AGAIN -- The issue presented WAS NOT whether Houston was more beautiful than Dallas. The issue presented was simply -- "is Dallas a pretty city." The pictures I posted show that. Houston is also a pretty city. Houston and Dallas don't have naturally eye-pleasing topography of rolling hills and beautiful blue water. Therefore, most of our beauty is man-made. Both cities are VERY similar in terms of beauty. The winner of the beauty contest is in the eye of the beholder. Therefore, the Houston Boosters will always pick Houston and the Dallas boosters will always pick Dallas. Both cities are pretty and could learn from each other. However, I wish we could act like gentlemen instead of insecure street thugs.

I have NEVER said Houston was ugly. It has beautiful parts also. The issue you presented was whether Dallas was pretty. It was NOT whether Dallas was prettier than Houston. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Your constant posts prove you were looking for the bad in Dallas, and sure enough -- you found it.

If that really happened you should call the Dallas media and or hire a lawyer to go after them for deprevation of civil rights. However, I sincerely doubt the police would use tear gas just to make people go home after bar drinking.

The issue is NOT whether Dallas has something Houston doesn't. The issue is whether Dallas is pretty. Those pictures of the lake are some evidence of Dallas' beauty.

You stayed in Dallas' equivalent of the fifth ward. Good job judging the whole metro area based on the ghetto and views from the freeways. Think about it -- if you were to build a nice house -- would you choose to build it next to a highway or someplace peaceful and serene? If your definition of beauty is the suburban sprawl of Houston or Plano -- then our ideas of "beauty" are completely different.

Again -- the beauty of Dallas. About 4 miles from downtown.

So let me get this straight. Some folks are so biased against Dallas, that this is not pretty: These are all pictures taken 3 miles or less from downtown Dallas. If you can't find parts of Dallas that are pretty -- you're blind.

We have to constantly "one up" Dallas. We cannot read an article about Dallas' population growth without saying, "Yeah, but we're bigger!" Dallasites know we're bigger. They are not as obsessed with us as we are with them.

This thread has gone from interesting, to frustrating, to just plain sad.

I sure hope someone builds there. That is a GREAT location.

Houston has plenty to be confident about. Perhaps if we start acting confident the rest of the world will take us more seriously. Now people that have never been to Houston read those articles that say living here is a sentence, then they see that people who live here are insecure about it. It makes them believe that garbage! Just be confident in your city. There is plenty to be proud of without putting every other city down.

Simmer down pal. Dallas could have 10 million people or 10 people. It doesn't affect Houston. I was just happy for the North Texas area. I expect that they counted people properly in this study. I personally don't need to review the statistical analysis of the study to realize that its a "ballpark" figure. Like the census -- its an estimate. No system is perfect. Don't get bent out of shape over it.

This story is not that hard to believe. Additionally, it does not come at the expense of Houston. People aren't leaving Houston to move to Dallas. Why are we so defensive over this? The statistics are based on the study conducted by the DBJ. Why is that so hard to swallow?

That's a lot of money. What a great day for the museum!
