  1. Artest is going to take a lot of the load off of McGrady and Yao this season, so we can rest those two up more. I have a feeling that Dorsey will have a Landry-type rookie season, and Landry will pick up from where he left off. We are VERY deep at the 4 position with Scola/Landry/Dorsey and Artest plays the 4 a lot as well. We have so many lineups that we can do this year, too. I can't wait.

We seriously need to find a good backup center. Deke might not come back.

  2. Just tried Luigi's on Almeda right on the border of the Museum District and Midtown. I thought the pizza was great. They serve it NY style by the slice. Nice little building with a patio. The guy behind the counter was telling me they've been open for 6 weeks and apparently doing well with schools nearby (HCC?). They have a small menu, but it what they have fits my taste for a neighborhood pizza joint. He also said it's BYOB, which is kind of awesome.

I'll be going back, especially when the weather gets nice. BYOB on the patio seems like it will be hard to beat.

Do they have lunch slice specials? I might drop by there during my lunch hour from work.

  3. We frequent the Texas Roadhouse on Fairmont Parkway. They have excellent prime rib and really good catfish. We've tried several other steaks there and they were all good, but the prime rib is the winner.

We've tried On The Border a few times and the food was pretty bad. We only tried TGI Fridays once and will never go back- that place is a bar, not a restaurant, and the food is just frozen TV dinners.

The Dallas Filet is my fav.

  4. That's annually. Not a bad fee for a unit of that size and price. I paid that for a condo one-third the size and one-sixth the price 5 years ago.

Yes, i understand. Still way out of my league. Beautiful place though!!

  5. I too am in the biz. I don't think it's nearly as dire as Vertigo suggests.

Lots of demand for engineers, drafsmen and measurement anlayst type folk. And once you add these types there is trickle-down in other departments.

And contract is cool if you ask me. We have one guy who has been contract seven years. They tried to convert him but he keeps saying no.

Yeah...i don't blame him and know why. The hourly rates are way up there!

  6. Best of luck, most are going through major reorganizations and only accepting "contract positions". That could mean working temp any where from 6 months to 5 years. It all depends on the individual. What works for a single man wont work for a couple and add children. Some can handle not having health insurance while some can while working contract. Not to discourage you but thats what has been accuring here with at least 4 major companies I know of and still speak to old coworkers/friends most barely clinging in to what they have. Keep trying you never know. Finally, always prepare yourself for a career change. Garner as much experience while at any major company so you can transition those skills to another career. You can get tons of advice on Yahoo Jobs, etc. Try www.LinkedIn.com you will be glad you did. :)

you mean your friend/co-workers are barely hanging on to their geologists positions? there seems to be quite a demand for geologists and not enough supply.

  7. ** Try to get out of the first round in the 2000's.

    :P

Hey, it is not a big deal since Rockets would'nt have won it this year anyway or any of those years in 2000. It hurts worst when you make it to back-to-back finals and get beaten in the last few seconds of the finals... :P

  8. In fact, I will be in Utah later this week but please allow me to clarify something. I realize your team hasn't been out of the first round in many, many years but in case you are confused or can't remember that long ago; they don't actually give out banners for getting out of the first round. They usually put banners up for Eastern/Western Conference Champions or World Champions. I do understand your confusion given your team hasn't sniffed the second round in over a decade.

One more note, Championships won in the Jordan era when Jordan was playing baseball instead of basketball come with an asterisk, quite like the Spurs Championship of the strike shortened season, and aren't really championships at all, now are they? Or is that revisionist history?

    Clutch City! :P

Is that so? Just a reminder to anyone that the first 3 championships from Bulls came when they were 1-5 against the Rockets during those 3 yrs. So that means the Bulls only have 3 titles, not six...or to be kind, let's say the Bulls 6 titles come with an asterisk for the first 3.

  9. Ha Ha! Tru Dat...Believe it or not, SLC is a pretty cool, pretty hip, little city. The rest of the state? Not so much. :)

I actually have to agree with you. SLC has some nice bars. Lots of nice college gals. I've noticed when i was there that many of them don't wear bras...lol

  10. Oh, like Stockton and Malone?

They won't get rings unless the sign to a good team while they are old. The West is too strong. A Rockets at full strength would destroy the Jazz. The only time the Rockets were at full strength against the Jazz, they beat them at home in Mormon Town.

The thing about the Jazz is that they always have a good team because of their system. However, they will never be great because their system pretty much is set and their players can't freely explore or do what they want. They have so many set plays that they pretty much follow.Against a very team like San Antonio, LA Lakers, and Dallas with good athletes, their system can be picked apart. I can't see them winning a championship with this current crop of players.

  11. And the Celtics did it the night after beating San Antonio... It was a rough game, the Rockets looked totally outmatched. Rafer seemed to be thrown off from his little altercation in the first second, Scola seemed intimidated by Garnett on both ends, Hayes was/is a poor finisher (there is a reason Landry had taken on his minutes), T-Mac... well he did get double-teamed everytime, but he definitely did not look like a star out there. Boston looked awesome, and did so without Ray Allen.

A game where we really needed Yao. Celtics didn't give up the 3s since we didn't have a low post prescence that could hurt them, so they stayed on our guards.

  12. Today's game was awesome... good to see the guys get it done with McGrady playing like total crap. When is Landry gonna comeback from the knee injury/I wonder if it was worse than they were letting on?

I think Landry's injury is much more serious. Swelling of the knee shouldn't take over a week or so to heal. Something is up.

  13. Well, the Hornets beat the Lakers, Utah beat Boston, Detroit beat San Antonio. The Rockets are now tied for 1st place. Also, the Lakers lost Pau Gasol to injury, David West of New Orleans (an All-Star this year) re-injuries is right ankle, and Ray Allen of Boston does the same.

    Look at Rockets.com:

    :)

Good thing you pointed out about those injuries. Hopefully, it evens out when those teams play us in the upcoming games. As far as the Rockets, it would be nice to see Landry back.
