Still looks the same.

Traffic and parking would be horrendous. They'd have to build about ten levels of parking to support something that tall.

Where would one go to enter an apprenticeship? Do you get paid during that time? Can you avoid working the high cranes if afraid of heights?
I recall seeing a practice yard on the way into town on 45. The only other one I know of is off I-95 in New Jersey and is run by the Operating Engineers.

Looks like the lecture got cancelled.

I want to see a Harrod's. Especially if it's the first Harrod's in Texas.

Maybe Astoria is the new Sky House and we will see them all over Houston and in other cities as well. Just a thought.
Astoria Marlowe? Sounds like the name of an heiress.

CBRE is taking bids on a 2.71 acre parcel - south side of Post Oak and 610. Get yours in by November 18 and it could be yours...

$1,500.
I am actually quite surprised at how the price of rentals has moved in the last two years. It is still possible to find luxury apartments in reasonably new buildings in Fort Worth for under $2,000 a month for a two-bedroom, 1300 sf unit. The same building offered in Houston (by the same developer) can be over $2,500 a month. Supply has not kept up with demand, so it's a landlord's market. And it will probably remain that way for a few years, even with all the new construction coming to market.
Of course, if you're willing to live out in Katy, you might get a price break. A small one.

Highly explosive and extremely slow balloons are the future!
But it sure beats the guy spinning the signboard down on the street corner to attract our attention...

A friend of mine told me there is a boutique hotel in there right now
I think the property is being converted to a hotel. I'm not sure, but it's a familiar brand, not a one-off.

Loving the blocking scheme
Yeah, kinda blockish...

Noticed a sign for a new tenant when I drove by today: Mattress Firm (ugh!!)
Well, they are locals.

What does Downtown's 380 agreement have to do with affordable housing?
It should be encouraging affordable housing, not just high-end units that most people can't afford.

I thought the eviction notices went out. Demo may be forthcoming.

this one has jumped around many times.. the latest rumors are that they are back to 20 or so stories. who knows?
One of the newspapers said 12. It's hard to know who to believe since the reports might be based on old information.

In order to get DLI money, they would have to include mixed-use don't they?
Seems like they shouldn't get DLI money unless some of the units are affordable housing. They might was well go after the EB-5 crowd.

The Marlowe? I guess we will soon hear rumors about a companion tower called the Shakespeare and it will be said that the attributes of one building came from the other.
Either that or the doorman will be Philip Marlowe, though he'll look like a gumshoe...
Aw, I'll bet I've got a million of 'em.

How do you go to the bathroom?
I wish people would stop asking me this. I have too many images of a pug stuck in my head...

Ive been told it's black and white and unlike anything Randall has done in the past. (That's a relief)
Damn, someone else stole my pun...

Nto bad for something that wasn't even a hole in the ground back in December.
-
I heard a December start, so it's entirely likely the news organizations are about as informed as we are.

I heard from a realtor friend that Randall has secured a site near Discovery Green for a 20+- story condo tower. Supposedly it is "sexy". We shall see.
Anyone heard anything?
"Sexy" in Randall Davis' terminology just means a ten-story half-naked statue in front.
The more "+" on the number of floors, the better.

I'm not hearing Rem Koolhaas...

I wish it was going to remain that same hue of coral when finished, but we all know it's going to be white (sigh)

Personally, I would like to see something that looks like the Woodlands Gate development. I doubt that one will ever be built, but it looks nothing like any other development in this city - or elsewhere in the country. It would add some spice to Downtown.
