Wow.  Ten downtown.  That is almost certainly second only to NYC.  (FWIW, Dallas has 4 downtown and 2 in Uptown.  Chicago has about 7 downtown.  Atlanta has 2 downtown and 1 in Midtown.)

Dallas almost can't be compared, because a lot of companies are in those suburban places north and west of the city. I would not be surprised if Frisco and Westlake rival Downtown.

And Exxon Mobil should not be on the list till next year.

    "Grip?"

Yeah, I've got a grip on reality. The reality that this board is dedicated to "discussing new and proposed projects" going up in Houston. And the reality that some just can't control their impulse to spew political opinion under the misguided belief that it will be impactful.

I see. So we can expect to see fewer comments about homeless "bums" in Midtown?

The Rosewood is one I'm not familiar with. And 1600 Louisiana isn't happening without Chevron.

I'd be interested to compare these downtowns with Austin.

I lived in the greenspoint area for 10 years I've seen the best of it I've also seen the worst of it hopefully this will make things good so this is affordable housing I hope that means that there's not too much government housing we know how that works would love to see something happen with the mall it's a shame about the theater that theater wasn't old

At 325 units, it's a drop in the bucket. Houston needs more affordable units, and they probably should be distributed city-wide, rather than in a cluster. I'm also not enthused about the cinder-block character of the structures; it really is not family-friendly.

That 50 story Chevron Tower is still technically proposed, but its been on the backburner for years. If Chevron ever finally moves out of California, maybe it will happen.

With Exxon Mobil moving down here, it's not too far-fetched to imagine Chevron being interested in Five Allen as a new corporate home. Get the two biggest oil companies in the US here in less than a year, and that could start a gold rush.

This render showed up in a recent announcement about start of construction on the first building, but the apartment towers appear to be much taller than the fifteen stories that were mentioned in the news article. Has the new design been rendered yet?

Maybe someone who is more familiar with the history of the city can explain this. Why is it that there is this massive stretch of seemingly mostly untouched forest between Bellfort and Airport, right off of south main, and so close to the loop? How did it go so long without being developed, despite development on all sides and to the south, even farther from the loop?

Was something in this area previously? Was there some sort of planned greenbelt at one time?

For a long time, the entire south side, especially around the Dome, was not able to develop because City utilities did not reach it. Also, 288 was not built. Both of those developments, which occurred in the '80s, allowed both commercial and residential development to extend southward.
