  1. Awesome! I literally started something like this yesterday before I saw your link. I thought "Ah. Great minds. ;-p" and this is easily 1000x better than what I was doing! Thank you SO much! Let us know how we can help.

I agree, I’m very interested in how this will play out also. I just don’t see much need for new office space in the future. Communication technology has become so easy to implement and so ubiquitous that I’m starting to really see large effects on our office presence. Just in the last year much of our building has been hollowed out. We haven’t let people go, there’s just no reason for them to come to the office anymore. We don’t even get up to walk down the hall, all business is taken care of via IM and telepresence technology. I’m in control of the floor plan for about 40 peolple. I’m asking the ones who don’t come to the office anymore to give up their space to save us money. Maybe I’m reading too much into this but I can really see a future where traditional office buildings are a rarity. There may come a day when 50+ story office buildings are a thing of the past or at least very rare. I can work just as well from my couch as my office already. I would not be surprised if I stop going to work almost completely within a year. If we don’t lower our real estate costs this way our competitors will and they will put us out of business.

It'd be nice to see 800 Bell redeveloped into a mixed use structure. Imagine, office, hotel, residential, and retail all in one bldg.

All these areas are available for high rise development if I'm not mistaken, wouldn't it be great if they all happened we could have our mini version of Central Park. Anyone else know of any properties around the bayou not included here?

The lot on Jackson Hill is becoming an "Inner Loop City Centre" and the one off Gillette is the one by the Chinese developer that contains 3 towers I thought. Additionally, there was a tower just north of Spotts Park but I think it may have been placed on hold or cancelled entirely. Dunvaly and Dallas is Regent Square.  The odd shaped one where KHOU used to be on Stanford has been bought by SCI and they may be expanding of some sort soon.

  4. The ones thinking the Dome should be a movie studio are the ones that are high.

Yea.. people from all over the world will come here... to ... what... stand behind a glass wall and watch a movie being made?

I've lived here all my life... Houston is not some "georgeous" city.... it was "georgeous" decades ago before they knocked down 90% of the buildings, built a bunch of boxes and cardboard strip centers every block, became a homeland for 90% of foreigners coming from south of the border, and every neighborhood from those days became a hood.

Compared to 1975... I'd say Houston is pretty damn fugly.

oh but the ones that are talkin about a GROW HOUSE arent?

  5. movie studio IS the best option! just one show (Friday Night Lights) spawned a whole lot of business and income to the entire area of Pfluggerville. bring that to Houston and the city will become one step closer to fulfilling its goal: The City of Opportunity. lets see, we have world class dancers, singers, musicians, and many other culture boosting professions. now add actors, directors, and all the technology people, Houston could potentially mvoe up on the World-Class city list. tourism will go up because of the films showcasing Houston without even knowing it. Houston is a very gorgeous city and a lot of people dont realize outside of Houston or even Texas. making movies in Houston and have the world to see can and will be a very good thing to have.

  6. well both hopitals are topped out!! they have already started on siding. the methodist hospital has two buildings and idk if TX Chil. has more than one or not. with these two hospitals supposedly land value will go up and also a lot of boosted business and more workers in the area. fyi- driving on park row heading towards greenhouse, the hospitals look freakin massive!!
