  1. Do they plan to do anything differently with the ramp that comes from Memorial and ends at a stop sign? I've always felt this is an awkward approach but perhaps you have to stop and turn to make sure you're not going to hit oncoming traffic.
  2. Yup, I've shared that with the Northside groups (most didn't even attend!) and the response has been overwhelmingly positive if TXDOT does agree to do it. I spoke with one of the TXDOT representatives at the Monday night townhall and he told it to me straight that this bridge is presenting considerable design challenges, especially since this will have to be around 34ft in the air, probably one of the higher pedestrian bridges in the Houston area. And because it will be that tall, they have to build long ramps leading up to the bridge for ADA compliance (although smaller staggered ramps are a possibility too). That's the key reason they decided to scrap it in the first place and instead build a path under the I-45 bridge along Little White Oak Bayou. However, after community engagement, TXDOT realizes that that path is not direct enough between the Northside and Germantown. So because it's still in design, there's no guarantee they are going to implement this bridge but fingers crossed!
  3. Yup, we are losing connection on the Northside. The main route my son will need to take to get to his elementary school on the other side of the highway is being taken away. With that gone, I just hope we remain zoned to that school.
  4. Looks like they decided to release the rest of the updates after tonight's Segment 2 town hall. Zoomed in: Segment 1 TxDOT-NHHIP-Stretch-Banners_Segment-2-12-3-23.pdf TxDOT-NHHIP-Stretch-Banners_Segment-1-12-3-23.pdf
  5. You might be on to something. If you zoom into the TXDOT schematic, it appears you can see a single lane coming south from the westbound feeder. That would appear to match what COH has which is a single lane coming south while there's an underpass right next to that lane. So TXDOT builds the lane and COH builds the underpass. Very interesting!
  6. Yup, this is exactly why they aren't completely capping it. Even with the updates, it looks less and less likely that the San Jacinto extension will have an underpass at the railroad tracks. I really wish the city would bump up this extension on their list of Northside projects. N Main can't even handle the current traffic around UHD and having the San Jacinto extension would further connect us to downtown.... perhaps we'll have to do an at-grade extension at this point. Edit: The 288 Update seems bizarre. It seems they should leave the 288 toll lane extension to bypass the traffic coming from I-69 and they can keep the existing entrance further down near Southmore Blvd.

  8. What is wrong with this place.... seems like tenants have always hated the landlords here.
  9. Right, this is what I was thinking too. I mean, you won't have exits going south anymore but this seems like we still have most of them.
  10. Agreed but that east/west travel can take quite a hit while waiting at the rail lights. Not only do you have to wait for the trains to pass which is fine, seconds later it may turn green for yet the vehicle traffic to cross too, thus causing further delays. I have to wait for quite a while just to drop off/pick up my son to/from daycare in this area so trust me, I know. My hope is, if they eliminate vehicle traffic, this may improve east/west traffic in this small area.
  11. I also hope that this improves traffic in the area. If we only need red lights for light rail or the occasional pedestrian needing to cross, that should hopefully improve the travel times as well.
  12. Their Live Oak property is only a couple of blocks away. Their Milby properties seriously should not even be considered part of this... But either way it seems like they have enough property to claim an entertainment district. GreenStreet is only 3 blocks, to put that into perspective.
  13. Hmmmmmmmmmm.... doesn't W2 own this land? W2 owns most of the land in this area around WOMH for future development.
  14. Ahh that makes sense. Thanks. Well then I think my screenshot above still stands since the two Milby properties are very far away from the rest of these.
  15. Right but I mean.... where are the other two properties? No one has posted them here because all the other addresses people have posted are either in the Northside or they are much further away in the East End.
  16. Surprised no one has posted a basic visual of all the blocks we are dealing with here. Curious, why does the title say 10 blocks? I count 8. Here's a basic outline of the properties mentioned. Someone can create a better picture since I'm not sure they own the entire blocks but I just wanted some basic visualization for myself.
  17. At this point, it looks like only the second floor has been demo'd. The first floor appears to be remaining now.
  18. Great idea and thank you! Yes, this is the Main St I remember as a kid. I remember there being an incredible amount of potholes and my dad's truck bouncing up and down as we were driving up from the bayou. I don't remember the storefronts looking like this but I guess they were in this bad of a shape. Houston has come so far!
