  1. I'm really surprised that the Chronicle, khou, Hines, or the Downtown Houston websites have not picked up on it yet. When Discovery Tower was announced, it was on all the above. I'm not saying it's not going to happen, it's just a BIG project to get no media attention.
  2. Whatever they do, they'd better do it quickly! The population of Montgomery County is expected to be well over 1 million people by 2030. It stands right now at 400,000. Land will become sparce if they wait.
  3. Rendering?? It seems that some on this forum has already seen it.
  4. Oh I didn't say it wasn't. Just making a statement.
  5. No mention of this project on the Hines website. Is there a rendering or not? Nobody will post it.
  6. Earth Quest Adventures is one step closer to reality. Gov. Rick Perry has signed legislation paving the way for tax incentives to draw the park to E. Montgomery County.
  7. Merge this if there is another topic like it**. Anyhow, does anybody else think that the trolly's they "debuted" are, well, familar? I know I have seen them here in months and years past. I don't much like them either. I think it will do nothing but get in the way of people trying to get in and out of the mall. Traffic is already bad in the area.
  8. It's funny how some on this forum have conveniently left out the fact that there is literally...literally 2 ft of seaweed on the beaches right now. I went last weekend and we walked on seaweed so deep that it buried your foot and half your calf which then dumped into the gulf. No sand...seaweed. This was about two miles past the seawall on the gulf side. For those on here who say "who cares...that's not were the tourists are," well I have news for you; the seawall area was in the same shape. Just not as deep. Something can be done, but nobody cares because it's "natural beauty." Blow that smoke up somebody else's ______. IMO** if the beaches were refurbished and MAINTAINED the influx of tourists would out-weigh the cost of keeping the beaches clean.
  9. Not only that, but they are looking at expanding the Hardy to loop 336 and putting in a whole new tollroad called "Montgomery County Parkway." (stupid name) Anyway, it will connect The Woodlands with the Grand Parkway. If for some reason the Grand Parkway is not built, then the toll road will deviate and connect to 45. I think that is the better choice to be honest. Provides a direct link with the back of The Woodlands. It would also really relieve the very strained Woodlands Parkway and 242.
  10. Anybody in the market for buying land? Now is the time to do it in New Caney. You are about to see a sleepy little town in the woods transform into an urban mega attraction. Think about it...Condos, hotels, resturants, the theme park, road expansions. Not only will you see New Caney explode in population, but Kingwood, The Woodlands, Spring, Conroe...anywhere within 20 miles of the park. By the way, I went to Kemah tonight and they already have the roller coaster built. All that's left to do is put the rail on it. The entire wood structure is in place. It's amazing at how small the space was that it sits on.
  11. I work in Sharpstown. I live in The Woodlands. This is a 44 mile trek if I take 45 to 59. It is 39 miles if I take the loop. The point is I leave the house at 6:10am and the longest it has ever taken me to get there is 1 hr and 5 min. The Woodlands to DT takes me 35 min. in the morning going WITH traffic. If you are going the opposite direction, it shouldn't take quite that long. I suggest Kingwood if he is going to be driving to Baytown as well. He will be A) close to the two major freeways...The Beltway (Sam Houston Tollway) and 59. That's your DT connection. The Beltway is your Woodlands and Baytown Connection. Your practically on top of the airport (IAH).
  12. Or Kings Dominion outside of Richmond. Virginia is awesome!
  13. Has anybody heard of the Whiteco Residential Towers to be built in the Galleria area? If so, forgive this thread. In case nobody knows, they are supposed to be two 35 story residential towers built at the corner of Westheimer and Sage. Construction was to begin this year.
  14. That would be ok as long as the Astros fund it. I don't think Dynamo should have to fund the Astros parking garage. However if the Stadium is to be built so close by, they need to be good neighbors and share their parking spaces for Astros games...if it is going to sit on land currently used for parking at Astros games.
  15. What is your point? I** don't like soccer. I didn't say everybody in The Woodlands didn't. My friends don't like soccer. They don't live in The Woodlands. Again...what part of my opinion did you not understand?? You guys are kidding yourself if you think that soccer is popular or will ever be popular in America. Period...the end. On a side note, the girl is hot!
  16. The Astros are a team that most everybody likes. I happen to find the only people in the city that likes soccer. NOT TO MENTION that that comment about me living in The Woodlands...yes, I do have a dog in this hunt being that The Woodlands is paying Houston millions for REGIONAL projects that benefit both. I think a stadium being built benefits more than just the people living inside the city limits of Houston! It's my opinion. If you like soccer...Great. Good for you! I don't. I don't appriciate being called a name when I voice an opinion. Just like in the Galveston forum, I said the beaches suck...that's because they do! But that's my opinion. Can any of you except that?!?!
  17. <giving middle finger> Big deal. Your probably one vent in the floor away from being in a trailer yourself there Kinkaid! Editor, I think it's funny you don't say anything to other people on this forum when they make degrading comments except to me.
  18. Not to sound like a racist, but soccer is popular in Houston because of the amount of foreigners here. I mean it only makes since. That's not to say that some of your average Americans don't enjoy a good soccer game. For example, somebody mentioned the crowds in Kansas City, MO and how small they were. I don't suspect there are many hispanic people or anybody from Latin America for that matter living in KS.
  19. Honestly...***JUST MY OPINION***, I think that building a soccer stadium in Houston or anywhere in America for that matter is a HUGE waste of money. I don't like soccer. My friends don't like soccer. My family does not like soccer. I have a feeling that there are many others out there who feel the same way. I don't intend to cause contraversy on here, but that's just the way I feel. Half the people I talk to didn't even know we had a soccer team. And the name Dynamo...can't they have come up with something a little better than that? I mean for having almost all our sports teams with a space theme, except for the Texans (another bad name), you'd think they'd follow in the footsteps.
  20. You know they closed AW because of a big name developer bought it. Well the last time I checked a couple of weeks ago, it was a big open grass field with no activity. THANKS A MILLION %$^$@%^
  21. hmmm, don't really know what to think. I guess it's nice.
  22. so what's the latest on this 17/21 story building to be going up? Also what about the Anadarko expansion? Aren't they getting a new sister tower as well?
  23. yeah, that's the article I read. You know, I've never even heard of a "w" hotel until this forum...and yes...I do travel...a lot. I've been to 36 states.
  24. It seems that I read in the paper (the villager) that The Woodlands Development Co. is working hard to land a W hotel. I'll see if I can pull the article.
