  1. Where are the best soul food places in Houston? I've tried Mickeys on W. Bellfort and 59 already. The meat loaf and ox tails were pretty good. Just wanted to know other places. I remember going to a place near Richmond and Dunvale(?) a while back, but don't recall.
  2. Good Dim Sum places(SW Houston) is Golden Palace and Kim Son(Fountains at Stafford). Hot Pot place would be Tan Tan(Bellaire and Ranchester) though not sure if best, but pretty good when i went. Chinese restaurant would be Fung's Kitchen(best Peking Duck in Houston)
  3. I don't know dude, but when i was in SDiego, i saw alot of fit people. Many that jogged and biked with their dogs than i've ever seen in Houston.
  4. Some things i have to agree and disagree. True that SDiego is not diverse as Houston. I only saw one black person in Del Mar. Overall, it is not as diverse as i traveled throughout the city. The Vietnamese food in LA was not as good as Houston, IMO. However, they do have a Japanese town in LA which has excellent food. I don't mean just Sushi places either. I'm talking about a variety of Japanese food and even supermarket. Overall though, Houston has many types of restaurant which alot of other cities can't match. I do think Houston is slow or "status quo" in many respects. Technology has been slow and coming. Also, when it comes to fashion, trendy bars, it is not close to ones in LA. Also, the mindset here in Houston is just too conservative, which is what it is. Just have to accept it. There's always some group opposed to some business opening or some expansion of road, etc.. In another thread, someone thought that a Coyote Ugly type club wouldn't make it in this town. I have to agree, because HPD Vice would probably raid it one day for being risque or something. Yeah, Houston is diverse, but it is probably the most socially segrated diverse city. I don't know how many times i've been to bars, nightclubs, Starbucks, etc. in which i see many people of different cultures and race, but the Asians sit together one side, Caucasians together one another end, etc.. At least in San Diego, there isn't diversity to begin with, so at least they are segregated for that reason.
  5. Is this right? The ad on tv(Mattress Mac) said that it would be the last year. I thought this was going to continue until 2010. What happened? I hope Mac can bring the U.S Open here to Houston one day.
  6. As i've said before, Houston might be one the most diverse cities, but also one of the most socially segregrated cities also.
  7. Prices to send packages have been going up alot more over the past 2 yrs. I guess they have to raise prices because they're are getting their a** kicked by bill pay and email nowdays!
  8. Property values and land in this area has been booming over the past several years. Pretty expensive. I know someone who has a biz near the railroad tracks and his property taxes have been going up and up!
  9. My take is that a predominately Caucasian high school will have a better educational plan and curriculum. It is just the way it is. Memorial was that way back in the 80s. Not sure what the makeup is now. If i had kids, i would prefer that they attend a school with different races and cultures.
  10. yeah, but some alot more than others.
  11. That Louisville game was the best. Benny Anders was the forgotten dunker of the team.
  12. Ex-Husband? Whoa! That is news to me. Anyway, i think Melanie Lawson was much better than Gina.
  13. I want to install solar screens in preparation for summer and reduce my electric bills. I've noticed that neither Home Depot or Lowes sells the frames that can bend or arch since not all my windows are squared or rectangular shaped. The front windows have an arch to it. Anyone know which stores do? Thanks.
  14. Speaking of driveway, how does one get rid of motoroil(dripping from vehicle) that has been sitting for over a couple of years. Water pressurizer? Other ideas? Thanks.
  15. What weed killer and fertilizer do y'all recommend? I see alot of Scotts Bonus S,but there were other brands out there. Some unknown ones in the plant and garden section of Lowes. This year i see alot of these cloverleaf looking weeds. It sure makes my yard green, but it looks nasty. Thanks.
  16. On baseball(Astros) or basketball(Rockets)nights, pretty crowded, but pretty much slow. It was much better in 6-7 yrs ago than it is now. At least on the weekdays.
  17. I know since i live in Sugarland, but with the jump in driveway robberies for the past couple of years, stats don't mean much anymore. Don't let your guard down!!
  18. I knew it was a scam, so one time when i got a call, i told him that HPD can f*** off. The guy seemed more upset about it than the fact that i also told him i didn't have any money. It was amusing.
  19. Really. Did Gina and Bob verbally duke it out on the air? I think she is lousy.
  20. For a young kid, he was articulate and answered the anchors' questions competently during live shots. Though he is nowhere as good as Darren Lyn. That dude knew his s***
