sounds like it depends on what kind of fun tired mom wants to have. otherwise, there are all sorts of options.

Street view, I think: http://maps.google.c...=12,171.59,,0,0
that's the right address but the wrong location; it's across the street and half a block east. Location is 29.708160, -95.395030... compare the google satellite image to the 45-degree-angle image. street view: http://g.co/maps/ysdh4

I have eaten at one in Mobile, Alabama and it was good. Since chicken fingers is about all they sell, it seems they have staked their reputation on them, so I would presume the quality is good here too.

the other is just a few blocks from the first. http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/99-Misty-Morning-Trace_The-Woodlands_TX_77381_M73088-75758
according to most of the info i found in a google search just now there are a lot of homes from that builder in the woodlands.

that whole block is 1301 fannin now, built in 1984. http://www.houstondatacenter.com/

please enlighten the ignorant among us... what/where is ruby's?

google earth shows the house as of 4/2004, no house as of 4/2005. Street view shows an empty lot with a deteriorating concrete driveway.

Water lines are breaking all over town due to the ground shifting from the drought. They are being fixed as needed; this is most likely what you are encountering.
edit: this is just an educated guess and my opinion.

"Lake Conroe was completed by the SJRA in 1973 as a water supply reservoir through a joint venture with the City of Houston, which owns two-thirds of the water rights in the reservoir."

hi everyone,
please advise us on whether to paint our front door or leave it alone. we were thinking dark orange. thanks
I think paint could look good. However, if you decide to paint the door, you really need to pick a complementary color for the door frame and the window frames. That being said, paint is not necessary.

the historical imagery feature in google earth is a good one for this kind of question.

Forest Park - Lawndale has a Catholic section called Garden of Gethsemane. I believe there's an area in that section called Baby Land.
good point that it's likely to have been a section in a larger "all-purpose" cemetery vs. specifically a children's cemetery proper.
For what it's worth, forest park lawndale is on the southeast side of town, so it's not likely your target.

A few other resources that might be useful
http://www.rootsweb...._cemeteries.htm
http://www.rootsweb....rri2/harcem.htm
(those two are on the same site but they look different - I didn't check to see if the contents differ)

Any of you longtime Houstonians have any idea which cemetery this could be? Dad is long gone as is Marge. I've written to the State Vital Records in Austin hoping to at least have a specific date. My uncle (in his 80's) describes the location as "right there as you go into Houston." I've visited Houston many times but do not know the city geography well enough to know where it could be.
Anybody have any ideas or thoughts?
I have no idea about the cemetery specifically, but I would suggest that you should contact a funeral home on the west side of Houston; that would be the most likely source for at least information about the cemetery. I don't have a specific one in mind, of course, but google maps might help you find a funeral home in the area.
Also, I'm not sure where "right there as you got into Houston" would have been in the early 50s, but I would suspect probably within the 610 loop.

What block of 25th is this house located on? I'd like to look at it on Google Maps.
The HCAD maps might help too... based on the given location in shady acres on 25th street, I think the property we're discussing will be in this facet http://hcad.org/cgi-bin/IMap.asp?map=5259B in area 9, 10, or 11.

For anyone still interested, Swamplot has posted that the demolition permit for this property has gone through: http://swamplot.com/daily-demolition-report-shrine-on/2011-06-15

Can anyone tell me where is a good place to get this done? Are places like CVS, Walgreens or Walmart good? I live in the northern suburbs on 45 and don't really want to drive into town. My assumption is that these places are fine. I'm only going to be printing in like 5x7's.
Thanks in advance
unless you're confident in your ability to fix stuff like exposure and color balance (or if you don't care :-), your best results will come from a place that fixes those things for you. As a moderately serious photog (http://sjalexander.net if you're curious) I highly recommend http://Mpix.com ... their prices are a bit higher than the drugstore or walmart but their services are worth it in my opinion.

Thank you so much for this info. I was also working on this cemetery too. AAAAAAA+++++++
I have been lurking on this thread... found this info yesterday: http://clintonaid.webs.com/ appears to refer to the same cemetery

Highway6 mentioned the purple fringe problem. As someone who takes a lot of high contrast pictures of gleaming spandrels, I can say the T2i handles them beautifully. In the 7,000 or so photos I've taken so far I haven't had to correct PF once.
In fact, I didn't realize how bad the problem is on my Sony gear until I suddenly didn't have to deal with it anymore.
"purple fringe" is a manifestation of chromatic aberration and is a function of the optics, or in other words, the lens. If you buy a quality lens with your camera, this will not be a particular issue. The camera is not to blame in any case, unless the lens is integral to it.

Or getting over the thought of a meal having fluffy in it.
If these people have seen this person do it, why not follow that person home, then start trucking the cats over to their residence after they get them neutered.
This is the dot I connected... http://www.houstonpress.com/2011-05-19/news/the-mayor-of-montrose/

I was in the area last weekend, does anyone know what the parcel directly south from the phase I bldg is intended for?
The site I speak of has been cleared and it has a couple of boolean merged cylinders in the above rendering. It also looks like the existing bldg on the site is being demo'd by the looks of it's empty fenestration.
I don't know what it is, but per the HCAD map, that's part of the St. Luke's parcel. http://www.hcad.org/iMaps/Tiles/Color/5355C3.pdf

So they're actually going to finish the building this go round?
So they say... I have my doubts. this is the third time construction has started after having been abandoned twice now.
I mean this is the building that St. Luke's pulled out of, as a partner, several years ago, isn't it? I haven't been down there in ages, so I have to ask if the crane is still there. I know it was around for a good long while after the construction stalled anyway.
There are two cranes, actually - one was removed from its tower for a while, but the tower remained; in the mean time, the other crane never left.

Home Depot At 20251 Gulf Fwy.
in Historic Houston
Posted
yes, it closed. it moved to the north side of el dorado, still on the gulf freeway. I heard that the main reason for the move is that the sales tax is lower there (outside city limits).
