  1. It is actually kind of sad that Kroger does not realize what a great store this could have been. The location alone is a prime advantage for Kroger. I just do not see long term that Kroger would be able to keep this store open with the new competition. I know that Whole Foods on Woodway is closing in 2010. For those on the west side of town, the only other Whole Foods in on Wilcrest and Westheimer. Would be nice to have one close.
  2. Have a few frieds that lived on that street at one point. I never did like that fact that it did not connect to any streets to the south.
  3. Hopefully in time it will be built, however I can't see it moving forward for at least another year or so.
  4. I don't know the name of the neighborhood, but if you drive down Kimberley Lane and cross over Beltway 8, take a right on Brittmoore, then a left on Rummel Creek. This is a really pretty area with decent size lots and great trees. I think this area has the potential for nice appreciation.
  5. West Of Gessner, North Of Memorial, East of Beltway and South of 1 10. The area where Memorial MS, Holly Spirit, T&C Center, Rice/Blockbuster shopping center is located. Memorial Woods maybe?
  6. A Charlie Brown Christmas is a classic.
  7. I have noticed that homes bounded by West of Gessner, Memorial to the North, Beltway to East, I 10 to the South getting expensive as well. I walked through a new contruction for $890,000 of off Bennignus a few weeks ago. I never thought homes would be almost $900,000. There is a home at the end of our street that has been on the market for 6 months at $2 million and another just listed for $2.8. I was shocked to see homes listed at that amount. I was looking at home with my parents for fun a few weeks ago, and we were mentioning that we could not find a home for under a million we liked. I mean, a million dollars not even getting you a home you like?
  8. It is basically in the Park Cities. Nice area, good location. Highland Park shopping center just to the south, North Park is just a little to the northeast. Close to Houston's though.
  9. Actually, it was my first time in an HEB store that was not a Central Market. It is a nice store with a huge produce section.
  10. The new HEB at Bunker Hill is great. I waited a few days for the crowds to die to no avail. I was surprised at how easy it was to park, get in, shop and check out. It looks very intimidating, but don't let that stop you. This is a great store that has a little bit (a lot) of everything.
  11. I think Kroger is on its last legs. I have not been to Kroger on Echo Lane in a long time. I would rather drive to Whole Foods or Randalls before I go in that store. It is just never really that clean nor does it have decent produce.
  12. How do you not know it is Houston thumbing her nose?
  13. Just heard that Toys R Us is going to be replaced with Specs. Will be very similiar to the downtown location. The current Specs will be razed once they have moved.
  14. I think they are going to bring that shopping center down. There has been some activity at the Toys R' Us in the past few days. I am fairly certain that it has been closed since Ike. Also, from what I have heard, the owner of the hotel next door is looking to sell. He wants some sort of mixed use development for the site.
  15. I know, I really wish they could have struck a deal to re-develop Fair Park and build a new stadium where the Cotton Bowl stands. Then mayor Laura Miller balked, thus Arlington ending up with the stadium and huge bill.
  16. Sounds like the new Cowboy's stadium is going to be spectacular. http://www.latimes.com/sports/printedition...0,1156838.story
  17. 50/50 There was a good article in the Wall Street Journal today talking about the credit crunch. Projects that were to have been started have either been delayed or cancelled altogether.
  18. Ron Stone and Steve Smith will always remind my of being a kid growing up in Houston. I remember when Channel 2 was actually a good station with good reporters. I am sorry, but they are such a sad channel today.
  19. I think it was a joke. I did not find anything on the website under stores or future store openings. I would think a Cheesecake Factory would be a great idea. There is plenty of disposable income in the general area, plus a busy location off of I-10 and Gessner.
  20. I am all for underground lines and don't mind having to pay for them. Driving down Houston's streets and seeing ugly as@ billboards and power lines is tragic. Take them down and go underground.
  21. I love Austin, but hate the idea of those buildings. It would just ruin the skyline.
  22. Has been confirmed Ciro's is not coming down.
  23. Metro National owns pretty much everything along I-10 south from Bunker Hill to just past Gessner I believe. I have heard (rumors) they plan on a shopping center and townhomes.
