  1. I sure wish they would quit with all these BS stores and bring in a Movie theatre and a ESPN zone like the one in Denver. ESPN zone is not in Denver Pavilions either but its a couple a blocks away on 16th Street Mall.
  2. what is LEED? Is it like Neon or the lighting on the Relaint Energy Plaza downtown (the building with the color- changing bars) ?
  3. This part of the article really struck me. Is this supposed to give some sense of false hope?
  4. what happened to the hotel idea? I thought that was pretty much a done deal?
  5. Well not for too much longer. TXDOT is planning on yanking some of the greenery from the median of North Central Expressway and replacing it with rocks. Read and weep! http://forum.dallasmetropolis.com/showthread.php?t=6775
  6. The north Central Expressway (75) gives the illusion that Dallas is a perfect, flawless drive throughout the entire 395 sq mi of Dallas. I bet that's what wx is comparing Houston to. Once you travel deep into the neighborhoods or off I-35, you see that Dallas isn't all glitz and glamour, especially areas in South Dallas. Dallas is just like Houston.
  7. Hey Face I'll help you out! I'd love to write a letter because this has been something i've always felt very strong about. I've always expressed it hard since my first days on this forum.
  8. I agree. And to top it off, Wells Fargo Plaza ( which was one of the best lit of Houston skyscrapers) seems to have completely stopped their white neon on top of the building. It angers me that the buildings with the ugly white Christmas lights haven't stopped. My main gripe w/ houston skyline @ night is that it needs to get rid of the christmas lights and replace with some nice colorful lights.
  9. I agree with you for the most part, but you lost me with Honolulu
  10. It's been that way for years!
  11. I'm getting pretty excited. I can't understand how someone could say this thing is overhyped. Downtown hasn't seen nuttin' like this before.
  12. Here goes a couple of large pic i found from Denver Pavilions web site to give an idea what downtown Houston will be looking like real soon. If Denver's looking like this with only 2 blocks, just imagine what Houston's 3 will be! Oh how i wish we could have (United Artist)
  13. no movie theater? BOOOO!!! I was hoping for a little more "hip" stores like NikeTown and an ESPN zone AND a movie theater. We got enough restaurant tennatns in here. This list so far is kinda... BLAAH!
  14. I hate to say it, but i gotta give the hand to Dallas on this one: both day and night. Dallas's skyline might not be as massive, but the buildings are well-grouped and better organized. Plus Dallas does an awesome job lighting up their towers at night, which gives it more brownie points.
  15. i kinda think adding another Corner Bakery Cafe in the Pavilions is a waste of good space. Bring on somethin' new like an ESPN zone or something else. Same goes with the Red Cat Jazz Cafe. We don't need the HP project being a repeat of what Main Street already got. Next we're going to here about new CVSs lining up HP. Ewwww!
  16. I saw this thread started by our old buddy greystone08 on SSC. Since he never posts here on HAIF anymore, I thought i'd start the same thread here and see some viewpoints as to why Galveston doesn't take better care of their beaches. Maybe since there's all kinds of new development, hopefully they might start.
  17. I don't know, i guess the same type of people that shop at UrbanMarket in downtown Dallas. There was an article about a yr ago that the city of Dallas was trying to front $ to that store to keep it from being closed down. Downtown Dallas doesn't exactly have the resident population either, but they're making it work.
  18. Who cares about angelika. Gimmie an Edwards or Super Cinema downtown. Angelika's movie selections are too limited!
  19. Being an African American myself, i can understand why they'd want to preserve the HBCU as it currently is. While I definitely think that the leaders of the school are crooked, we shouldn't split hairs. It's not just TSU that's doing it. UofH is able to hide its assets and expenditures better because its a larger University with several branches. All in all, i think everyone is crooked in some sort of fashion. Some people are just better at hiding it than others and some people just simply haven't been caught. Doesn't mean its not happening elsewhere so don't be fooled. P.S. Anybody remember greystone08? He went to TSU. I sure wish i could get a take on how he feels about this. tierwestah "tommy" jones
  20. Downtown Houston's club scene is hoppin'. Some people on here think that a high presence of blacks mean trouble. No need to fear us
  21. You're a mod, you're not allowed to be negative. So therefore i'll say it: Pavilions is dead.
  22. Not sure why they had to wipe out the MBAR when there's so much Vacant space. I still thinkWalgreens will be cool for downtown. Now let's hope a few urban style HEBs or Krogers will follow suit.
  23. Actually, that's the aspect of downtown that helps keep the energy/ night scene downtown hoppin'. I like to see people outside just kickin' it or hangin' out.. In Jay'Z's words " parking lot pimpin' ".
