I cant believe people are complaining about the bars on Washington, i just bought a townhouse on Washington and being near all the nightlife was one of the reasons i moved there. Houston is one of the only cities in the country that dont have a strip, and Washington is a perfect set up for that. It is great that for once their is a concentration of bars and clubs where u can walk from one to the other without having to get in your car. everybody on this website is albout dense urban development and making it a more walkable city. Houston needs an area like 6th st in Austin or Bricktown in Oklahoma city, or beil st. in Memphis, ect ect..... And plus 5 years ago nobody even knew Washington st. existed, it was trashy and looked like crap. now there is all kind of development and tons of new homes being built. And people are buying these houses because it is an exciting part of town now.

hahah yea true...... however many projects were canceled, including the bank of the southwest tower, that would have been one of the tallest buildings in the world.

Its always bad timing for Houston. Whenever Houston starts to go building crazy it gets hit by some economic meltdown right before all the really cool projects get off the ground. Very upseting!

The Denver Pavilions have been around for a long time, give the Houston pavilions some time. what did yall expect? That this one development would suddenly change downtown Houston over night? It is going to be ok, give it some time. -

How do yall not know what Lids is.....? They are in just about every mall. I buy all my hats from there. -
I don't really see how a high rise would add that much more traffic. How many people come in and out at one particular time. And Houston has traffic every where any ways. Complaning about traffic do to the construction of a new high rise seems like a waste of time.

Umm there are some weird paintings of Greek statues on the side of the base facing Post Oak. And the rest is just Plain, the building over all looks good though.

I agree i think the christmas lights were better then the no lights we have now. downtown is totally dark at night except for the continental building. we need to bring the night time lighting back!!!!!!- 989 replies

This is a really cool idea. Maybe Houston will actually be in some movies, instead of LA, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Las Vegas, and Miami.

Ummm i think the lighting downtown lately is terrible. the only building that has any lighting on top is the continental building. what happend to the light on top of the wells fargo tower or chase tower. the two tallest buildings in Houston dont light up the top at night. I realize it is probably more cost effective to not have lights on top but neon lighting dosnt cost that much. Downtown would look so much better if all the buidings were all lit up at night. Kind of like when we used to have that laser show every year, they lit up the skyline awesome for that event.
