When you say tower I am assuming you mean the tall crane? Yes...they took one of the down but the other one is still alive and kicking. As per the previous poster...that would be awesome if they built a twin on the other side of the freeway. Awesome.

I know that the county used to go around and pick up the new homebuilder signs that would litter every road on the weekends...
-
You could call that one play luck, but at the end of the game Katy had scored three more times since then. I wouldn't call a 16 & 0 record luck.
-
It is an interesting advertising campaign - I too noticed the signs at every corner of every major intersection in this town. I hope they plan on picking them all up once the party is over.

This is an interesting post - thanks for all of the information. Do you know when Highland Knolls will be punched through to Hwy. 6? It is interesting that Methodist is looking out this way. I also heard that someone purchased land along the Grand Parkway. With the new Memoral Hermann Katy hospital on I-10, the Texas Chidrens hospital on Barker Cypress, and maybe Methodist coming this way, we are going to have a lot of good hospitals to choose from. And more traffic.

Yep, CyKat is correct. It is a hotel (I believe Cofort Suites). Looking at it now you can kind of tell that it is a hotel. Kind of a random place for one...I guess it is fairly close to the interstate but not really around much. I was wondering how the La Quinta that just opened on I-10 would do (it replaced the Best Western that burned down). Everytime I pass by it seems to have a full parking lot so I guess there is demand out here for that.

Well, I did change my opinion up a little bit in a later post - I said that I guess a Fiesta is better than an empty building just sitting there. I don't know how you could consider a Fiesta at Mason Road and I-10 competition for the HEB on Fry and 99. They are no where close to eachother. I live in Grand Lakes and go to the HEB because of the convenient location. Even if I absolutely loved Fiesta, I wouldn't shop at that specific location because it is so far from me.
I don't think it will be competition for much except for maybe a few of the stores just to the south. My original opinion came from what I have seen at the Fiesta on I-10 and Blalock (which is closing). It seems to draw a certain type of clientele...

I will add my opinion once it is complete with all of the glass on it. It is kind of hard to tell what the finished product is going to look like at this point.
-
Nope - you are not going crazy. When looking at the front of the building (the part that faces I-10 (North) the crown is centered left to right. When looking at the building from the East or West, the crown is not centered - it is closest to the North side of the building.
Interesting.
I wonder if the roof of the top floor (the 27th floor, the last "full" floor) will be an observation deck that you can access from the crown.
-
Yep, the four corners of the building are not glass they are just squared off - unlike the original rendering.
-
The building is 27 floors so the first floor of the crown is floor 28. That means that right now they are up to the 33rd floor and I think they have one more to go.
-
Yep - they are playing flugerville. Not sure what their record is, but Katy has had an awesome year.
-
Well, I guess I agree that it is better than the empty store sitting there rotting away. It will generate a lot of traffic. I think the Fiesta at Blalock and I-10 is closing due to the construction.

Good Lord. Just what we need.

We chose to go with Techshield on the house we built about a year and a half ago and have never experienced any problems with cell phone reception. Ever.
-
Well, they are cranking away on the crown, and from my viewpoint it appears that the crown will have some sort of functional office space inside. The building part is 27 floors, and they have built floors 28 - 32 of the crown. If the building is really going to be only 34 floors, they are almost done with the shell.
Maybe the crown will be the penthouse offices for the CEO.

I went to the Grand Lakes annual HOA meeting last night. The county commissioner was there and he did confirm that a light will be going in at Fry Road and the Seven Meadows entrance. It is kind of west of the main traffic problems but it might help some.
-
I have always wondered if the crown was just for the drawing or if it would actually happen. You are right - the upper floors that are not quite as wide go from 13 to 28 - which is where they have stopped. They are definitly still working up there but only in the middle - making me now think that they are working on that crown. Will it really be 6 stories tall though? Anybody know if it is decorative or if there will actually be offices in there?
-
So I thought this building was going to be 34 floors but from my office view it looks like they have completed adding floors to it - stopping somewhere around 28. Any idea what is going on with that?
-
Yep - I just got mine too - same rate. Nice!!

They are building it next to a hospital because of the demand for hotel space in the area. This area has been envisioned as the next medical center of Houston. Because of that, you are going to have patients from all over the country coming to this area for treatment and they will need a place to stay. In addition, the family of people in the hospital will need places to stay and this will help accomplish this.

The view of that webcam is from the top of my building. I am on the 8th floor - the building has 18 floors total. Not a bad view of this site!
Yep - that crane popped up over the weekend. They have been drilling that site for a while. Based on the renderings, it is for a rather large hotel.
-
Now that I really think about it I think you are correct. I believe their building(s) were going to be along Grand Parkway (on the East side) South of Fry. Interesting.

At the Grand Lakes annual homeowners meeting last December the county commisioner said they were going to be building their offices close to the NE corner of Grand Parkway and Westpark. This might be what it is.
