  1. FalconRanch1, a stopsign would make things much worse for traffic flow through that area. Can you imagine how far it would back up past Grand Parkway? Or worse, how far traffic coming off of Grand Parkway would back up? How about the folks that live West of there trying to get to Grand Parkway in the morning for work and they have to stop at a stopsign? That would be horrible.

  2. There was a lot of information provided about these changes in the grand lakes annual HOA meeting back in December. I have wondered when the changes would happen but it sounds like they are starting. Have you noticed that the cops that used to be out at that intersection have moved down by the Denny's? They are trying to get traffic used to going down there - and here is why:

(This is what all I can remember):

The enterance into HEB and Home Depot is too close to Grand Parkway for a light; and it isn't a real intersection it just happens that both enterances into the two shopping centers are aligned with eachother.

The median between the Home Depot and HEB shopping centers that is closest to Grand Parkway is going to be permanately shut down and traffic will be forced to go further West on Fry to get into these shopping centers.

Unrelated, but close by, the Southbound exit ramp from Grand Parkway to Fry road always backs up so they are going to make a double right-hand turn lane to help with the traffic.

That is all I can remember. This intersection is an absolute disaster and needs major changes yesterday. I think this will help out a lot.

  3. No real surprise here. The gigantic, bright yellow sign on Grand Parkway that was basically a bunch of 4x4s in the ground with plywood attached to it made me tell myself that I would never go there. What kind of fancy steak place advertises like that? They were littering Grand Parkway with that sign...it was horrible.

Wasn't Las Rosas in that location before the steakhouse? It didn't last long either. Maybe it is the location?? Who knows.

Comparing Perry's steakhouse to this place is an insult to Perry's - just because of the horrible sign that Allie's had alone!

  4. I haven't received the formal notice in the mail but looked online. Looks like our market value went down but they still took the appraised value up the alloted 10%. At the end of the day I think we will be taxed on a higher base (although i still need to sit down and look at it closely).

  5. Well, I posted before I did some research of my own. Check this out...

Another Lowe's on I-10. Doesn't help me too much - I am way South on Grand Parkway very close to the Home Depot. I would shop at Lowe's but the only location close to me is at Fry and I-10 - too far to drive. Looks like this new one will be about the same distance away from me but just the opposite direction.

There was originally a "home improvement" store slated for the Shops at Bella Terra (SWC of Grand Parkway and Westpark). It had to have been a Lowe's b/c the Home Depot is so close. Guess the decided to move it up to I-10. Dissapointing.

  6. Drove by it on Friday about 2:00 PM - it was obviously closed up. There were not any signs on the doors or anything - just no one there. An interesting side note - if you reference this thread above the original name was "Paddy's One Foot in the Grill" - take a look at the signs now. It was called something like Paddy's smokehouse and grill or something like that. I wonder if that name change a while back meant new owners.

I can't say that I am too surprised - it was a nice place but a bit expensive.

  7. The only reason that people are scared to go to this HEB is because they have heard, through hear-say, about some crime that has happened in the parking lot. Does everyone realize how much crime goes on that we never hear about? It can go unreported to the police, or even if a police report is filed most people don't blast out e-mails or talk to the media about it. I think we would all be scared to go anywhere if we really knew how much crime goes on. And to the folks that think a security guard or the government is going to protect you at all times: you have a lot to learn.

  8. It should probably be noted that no facts were stated in your post, with the exception that TABC does require taxes to be current. However, there is no evidence that this applies to the restaurant in question.

Fair statement - we are having a discussion based on a lot of hear-say and assumptions (or at least I am). I didn't realize that there were other locations that had been locked out - I was only aware of the one in Villago. What is the status with the Katy Freeway location?

It seems like if all of these things said above were true that the owner would open the Pulcenilla (sp?) location under a different name other than Azarellis!

  9. I also noticed a sign in front of the old Pulcinella location. All it said was something about a new Itallian place coming soon and I did see the BYOB part. I wonder if Azarelli's has made everything right with their last location - meaning I wonder if they have paid everything they owed to the landlords or if they are just hoping to a new location. I bet the Pulcinella location has all of the tables and equipment still sitting in there. The TABC permit takes time to get - maybe they don't want to delay opening the restaruant just to wait for that permit. Either way something seems shady about this entire deal.

  10. Add a few more to the list: I was over in the HEB (Fry and Grand Parkway) parking lot - there is a strip center there next to the Bank of America that contains a subway, Dunn Brothers Coffee, Candalaris, etc. Three stores have had forced lock-outs (there were signs posted in the door): 3 day blinds, a smoothie place, and some fashion accessory place. Amazing.

  11. Boy, between this thread and the toll road thread, the entitlement mentality displayed by some Katy drivers is nothing short of stupendous. As a Harris County resident who occasionally rides a bike in the suburbs and rural areas, I never knew the debt that I owed to these residents. From here on, I resolve to work harder to pay more taxes, so that my county can build more free roadways for my western neighbors. I further resolve not to use their roadways for any purpose, and if I must use them, to only do so in a pickup or SUV at breakneck speed.

I apologize for having inconvenienced anyone.

    I'm glad somebody gets it!

Use the roadways all you want. Just make safe choices for yourself.

Do Texas laws allow bikes on freeways/tollways/interstates/whatever you want to call it? It seems that if folks are entitled to ride their bikes down a road like Fry road in Katy then they should also be allowed to ride in the left lane of Interstate 10. It is their right, right?
