I think you must mean awesome parking lot that allows for greater access to the park. 👍
Plus, you have to have somewhere to park food trucks...🍦🌮
That parking lot is not for the park though. And there is one accross the street or so that I saw recently had the price at $1.50 for the whole day and was almost completely empty. Must be making a fortune.

Does anyone have an opinion about what this place is like to live in?
A friend of mine took a tour very recently, and noticed that one of the doors was broken in, and hadn't been fixed. When he asked about it, the leasing agent responded with, "We're downtown."
Regardless of the neighborhood (I've lived in way scarier locations), that does not inspire confidence in how the building is run or maintained.
Many developers do not understand that buildings in busy areas need to have doors, gates, and lower level windows constructed of a higher level of security. I wish I could fly them out to more urban cities for a tour. Instead of just putting in a better door they will just let it get broken every 6 months and fix it 2 months later every time.

"TheHouston Dynamo Football Club today unveiled the winning seating design, as chosen by a fan vote, for the all-new mesh seats which will be installed throughout PNC Stadium this offseason. More than 1,500 fans voted in the three-week long contest.
The conversion to mesh seats, which is part of an extensive capital investment project that also includes the creation of an all-new East Club on that side of the stadium, is the most recent major investment made by Club owner Ted Segal across all aspects of the organization."
"The new East Club features nine loge boxes, which offer individuals and companies the opportunity to entertain guests in a semi-private space with access to all of the all-inclusive benefits of the East Club. All nine of the new loge boxes have sold out, the Club also announced today."
"The new mesh seats, produced by 4Topps and DreamSeat, are up to 30 degrees cooler than traditional stadium seats. Each of the new seats will include a cupholder and armrests, creating a significantly improved overall experience for guests at all PNC Stadium events. Seats in the new East Club will feature premium high-backed mesh seats from 4Topps."

There are literally tons of places where you can eat for under $20 a person. They aren’t going to be some hip new concept in a high rent building but there are plenty.
Tons of places is not the same as almost every restaurant in the city. More like 20% of places inside the loop. Half the food trucks don't even make that standard anymore.

huh? Houston has gotten more expensive, but almost every restaurant in the city is pretty affordable by national standards.
Affordable to me is like $20 or less per person for food, non alcoholic drinks, tax, and tip. Which would completely eliminate Taste Bar + Kitchen and like half the city. You are thinking of "comparable pricing" not "affordable pricing".

Just what Houston needs, another expensive crappy brunch place.

If South Texas College of Law decides to sell their parking lot down the line, this would be an amazing location for a restaurant. Kind of like how the Grove in Discovery Green compliments the park.
Isn't Tout Suite supposed to move into the building? That's even better than a restaurant.

I heard the owner is having financial issues.

Oh god, I hate parking hoarder NIMBYs. If you want private parking, put some on your private land.

The law school holding on to that tiny little parking lot needs to be sued for being grinches.
Eh, its just one of a thousand parking lots to worry about. I'll just hope that it gets turned into some cool new development in the future to compliment the park. Multi parcel blocks are just more fun anyway.

So when you said it was $25 for 3 mini tacos . . . that was just a lie. Thanks for confirming.
Ever heard of exaggeration?

$10.99 for 5 tiny 1/3 sized tacos. Read some of their reviews. Show me another counter service place with the same prices for that size taco. You guys are funny... edit: The normal sized tacos on that menu are 3 for $12.99. $4.33 each.

If their prices are anything like their downtown restaurant, the prices are very reasonable and they are good.
It's probably the most expensive taco shop in the entire city.

The atmosphere would be one of people rushing past empty buildings. There's a reason there are vacant lots - there's no demand for a building on them. And, with something like 24% vacancy, it will be a while before demand increases enough to make building anything economic.
Downtown doesn't have to be full of offices.

There's a new cafe there that was finished a few weeks ago, but I've never seen it open.

Must be a lot of people excited to pay $25 for 3 mini tacos.

The downstairs parking lot is HUUUGE!

Also, I asked what Orgeat was, and it's a syrup made from almonds. They are making it from scratch. They poured a little in a shot glass for me to try and it was thick like honey. Evidently they cook down a bunch of almonds then take the liquid and add sugar and sometimes some other flavors and cook it until it thickens.
The cocktail pictured was the Trinidad Sour which has it in it.
Orgeat is mostly used for mai tais.

They sure do have a monopoly on the homeless market. Why would they want to change?

3.7 google rating in Miami. But I guess we always need more crappy ripoff brunch/hookah/bottle service places.
