And I'm getting many, many people from different parts of the country, different parts of the world coming to check it out."

I think this is great news. Houston isn't well-known as a tourist city, but people are visiting Houston all the time, so it is good to see something new become a place for people to check out.

Someone destroyed the front end of their car by hitting the floating bus stop on Heights. After looking at it, it was obvious the driver had ignored a no right turn sign and driven straight into the raised concrete.

Was this last night? I saw several emergency vehicles there in the rain last night while I was on the bus.

  3. On Saturday I saw a Metro police car go on the tracks to get past the blocked off block on Main St. and a woman who was behind him followed onto the tracks. Officer was not happy he was being followed, but it does seem weird to have a protected lane on a street when the green/purple line shares the street with vehicular traffic.

Wow this entire thing is dead. Like, not only are almost all of the stores gone but there's literally no one walking inside anymore. Talk about eerie.

Edit: Found this Facebook post. Not sure if I'll be able to share here:

If I recall, the new signs being installed at these crossings are "STOP for bikes and pedestrians", so technically, they are supposed to yield to cyclists. I can't 100% confirm, but I'm almost certain 11th St has the signs.  I'm going to try to ride it again tomorrow and will check.

They do have the signs, and there were signs there before that also said to yield to pedestrians.

One thing I've noticed with the HHB and Nicholson crossings is that most cars yield to cyclists (even though they have the right of way), which often leads to awkwardly or even frustratingly slow interactions.

What really doesn't happen anymore, though, is cars blasting through at speed. I'll call that a win.

Nicholson has yield signs posted, Heights Blvd does not.

Not a real banner, but an awesome troll of the people who keep begging for a Trader Joes in that location. I'm not sure why we would need another crappy grocery there, but there's no accounting for taste.

    Pretty good photoshop, looks real.

  7. 11th St. westbound at Shepherd is an awkward mess right now, as there is enough space for two lanes, but it is unmarked. Could a right turn only lane be added here? Or will it have two lanes to help with traffic?

Also, the lack of bike lanes here makes me believe they won't continue along 11th St. to Durham's bike lane, which is unfortunate.

  8. They use a left turn arrow when there aren't any left turns in a traffic circle. They use a continue straight arrow for both lanes as the indicating arrow to exit the circle. An arrow pointing left does not mean continue going in the lane. I think the arrow should be circular to indicate the angle of the lane/exit.

What actually confuses me is there are no arrows currently in the circle. You are expected to just figure it out that some sections are two lanes and some are one.
