Besides when since a sign that tells you "this is NOT a sidewalk" ever really stopped anyone from using something that is clearly a sidewalk...not me. Then again I'm the kind of guy that looks at the "closed sidewalk" sign telling you to cross the street, and in return I say "screw them" and keep walking forward haha.
The sidewalk on one side is blocked halfway through the tunnel.

My guess is some kind of barrier will be installed at some point soon.

I suspect taggers will be hitting it soon. They should have gotten some of Houston great mural artist to create a wildlife mural.
Exactly what I was thinking.

Those look like pedestrian sidewalks to me. It even has bollards and chains which is smart. The bridge also looks like its either standard highway overpass height or a little taller. No reason to ever design a bridge that can't fit a semi or even a double decker bus.
The temporary signs say "This is NOT a sidewalk." I also read that pedestrians are to use separate trails. And anyway, why would anyone in their right mind want to walk through that next to traffic? The noise would be terrible.

Red Purse Woman is back!!!
I figured out what's going on with her. She's so totally engrossed with something on her phone that she has been wandering the world without ever looking up... oblivious to everything around her.

Are they suggesting there might be a restaurant on an upper level? That would be cool.
With a rooftop terrace to boot... but that wasn't the point of my post. 😁

Here are two more in that series.
This first photo is a lot more manipulated than I really like, but the lighting was crap. Next time I'm doing this during the morning commute.
And this one... did not need quite as much manipulation.

I did the analysis on this one guys. Perspectives check out. Verticals are
straightcurved. But is this curved enough? Are you sure you are doing this right @MidCenturyMoldy I'm skeptical.Oh, this is my "corrected for realism" version!

Always grateful for all of our photographers on here, but wanted to say these downtown shots were absolutely fantastic. In love with the photo of the red line stop at sunset. Thanks for posting!
Thank you! I appreciate the positive comment.

I either never knew, or had forgotten (both are equally plausible), that it had once been called San Felipe Courts. I've always known it as Allen Parkway Village.
Depends where you are at. I imagine in Egypt, Fertile Crescent, Turkey , China or the Indus valley 78 years isn't much. A drop in the bucket. Or for that matter Europe. Houston on the other hand.
I think you quoted me while replying to samagon.

I mean, I'm not making this up. It was actually listed in the National Register as the San Felipe Courts historic district in the 80s.

"When the department store opened in 1939, this section of the Fourth Ward"
Second sentence and already wrong. It's in the Third Ward.
