  1. Thank you all for the replies. I have a wedding at the Alden in November and want to give the guests an alternative to the $25/night the hotel charges for parking.
  2. can someone help me out. What is the name of the new Parking garage, at San Jacinto and Prairie Link to google maps And what is their daily rate? Can you park there overnight?
  3. I've been wanting them to turn the grassy section into a dog park. They already have the high fence around 3 sides. Just add some gates and the 4th wall of fence and its a dog park!
  4. Drive down Elgin towards 59. There are a ton of brand new townhomes just dieing for retail. This is only a mile away.... we will support the retail.
  5. The $45/month is the standard corporate rate for Super Sport level 24 hour facilities. Anything better than that is just gravy.
  6. To be fair, you could make a million dollars a year, but if you repeatedly begged me for money outside the CVS and then threatened to break into my car while I shop, I would want to punch you too. Its not like Im going after just the homeless...
  7. And I am the idiot who scheduled an appt. downtown with one of th wedding vendors. You couldnt get to the hotel yesterday during the parade. Fortunately we were able to change locations...
  8. For the most part I agree. I say "good morning" to the homeless wanderer's when Im walking the dog in the morning. They aren't evil people. For the most part, they don't mean any harm. They need to know their boundaries though.
  9. Thanks for the advice Meme... Ill make sure she starts packing heat and see's a psychiatrist immediately. Thank goodness for this forum... I could have married a true nutjob!
  10. If you were a female, would you like strangers coming up to you? Its a matter of personal safety. She doesnt feel safe. They have to be pretty darn close to you to beg for money. How does she know thats all they want? I choose to live in Midtown, while she lives in River Oaks. We wont be living in Midtown after we get married.
  11. Nice sarcasm, but seriously, my fiance cant put gas in her car at night in Midtown by herself because people come up to her asking for money everytime. She cant go to CVS by herself at night for the same reason. Then I find out that there are places offering these guys a bed to sleep on and a hot shower for $15/night. Can you connect the dots? I think you can.
  12. Stop making it so easy to hang around. Offering them beds for $15/night creates demand for beggars. They can beg for $15/day.
  13. Hello all, I'm looking for information regarding a 1950s restaurant that was located in the Texas Medical Center. The restaurant is called Peter Pan Dude Ranch located at 6504 South Main St. Does anyone have any photographs of the restaurant? Perhaps there is some postcards, or matchbooks of this place? Is anyone old enough to have ate here that can share some stories and memories? Thanks in advance.
  14. Good luck growing grass inside that building. Isnt the point of a bubble, is so you can grow grass? That way, the field they are practicing on is similar to the field they are playing on? You wouldnt want to practice on Astroturf, then play on grass if you dont have too.
  15. I heard it too, and originally thought a gang war was going on outside, however, WVU was beating Oklahoma, so I didnt leave the couch. Good to know it was just fireworks!
  16. OK, so Im sick of the screen captures... http://www.hammerweb.com/crime/ Its far from finished, but when I have time, I will update the webpage to show different months and different crimes. Very similar to what the other website already does, but more focused on trends. Current it shows May 2007 for your comparison.
  17. Awesome site. Thanks. Much easier than my method!
  18. So you want to see seperate maps? Not a problem... However, can you or someone else explain what the difference is? The way I understand it, is Robbery is taking something from someone by using force. Aggravated Assault means a weapon was used, but something wasnt necessarily stolen? If someone can clear up how the police label crimes, that would be helpful. Im engaged and just bored at work. This little project took about 5 minutes of excel filtering and 5 minutes of batch file processor on google.
  19. Seeing the post in the Howl at the Moon thread about someone getting held up at gunpoint concerned me as just 2 weeks ago, I found out a similar thing had happened in East Midtown. I know Midtown isnt the safest place, but I had been unaware of people being held up at gunpoint when walking around the bars. I took the latest monthly data (October) from the police website and pulled up the Midtown Beats. I pulled out only Robbery and Aggravated Assaults and plotted them on google. Here is a screenshot of the outcome. I can post the live map link, but it seems very processor intensive, so a jpg is more useful. Remember, this is only for the month of October. I can pull up other crimes or other areas of town if you wish.
  20. I forget which one I went too, right on 59 near the village. It was a gift, so I tried them out. Soap was still on the back of the car when it came through the washer... they simply dried it off. I said, h*&l no and made them wash it correctly. That was the first and last time I used either of those "premier" wash services. The $4 automatic wash down the street does a better job! But 9 times out of 10, I just wash both of the cars myself. It really doesnt take very long. Maybe 45 minutes each.
  21. I do take out at Ponzo's fairly regularly. I just double park for 5 minutes with my flashers on while I go in and get the food. Seems Houston has never heard of double parking.
  22. They dont need AWD on that car. The weight penalty of AWD would ruin the car. Bringing the diesel powerplant over to the states and allowing the car to get 50mpg would be ideal.
