  1. Once upon a time there was a talking spider who lived in a barn. One day the spider was out taking a walk and came across a little girl sobbing by the side of the road. "Whatever is the matter?" asked the spider. "Eeek! A talking spider!" screamed the little girl as she ran away as fast as her legs could carry her.
  2. I totally agree with you, Sdamus but I also think that fighting back when dealing with such people is futile. It only encourages them to go further with their vile behavior. The best way is always to withdraw from such situations rather than engage them.
  3. "Always remember that you are absolutely unique... Just like everyone else!"
  4. You may be right. There are those among us who don't seem to have any conscience at all. I wonder what has to happen to a person to turn them into that cold, uncaring thing.
  5. My house is going to be filled with kids - nephews, nieces and neighbors over these holidays and I want to have a host of activities ready for them. Any ideas how to entertain half a dozen kids of various ages?
  6. For those who have been residing in Houston all their lives, how well do you know your skyline? What's changed over the years? Any old buildings torn down or any new names?
  7. Great piece. It's amazing really that none of us had heard about this talented architect until now. I think that it's to be expected that he would want to surpass his previous goal. I can't wait to see what he produces next.
  8. I've been looking through this thread and all these pictures are so beautiful I've been inspired to go out and take a few of my own. Quick question, can anyone submit their photos here?
  9. I have to say, I'm with you on that one. Until I moved to Houston I had never really appreciated the beautiful skyline. It definitely is one of the best in the world as far as I'm concerned.
  10. I can only wish that I stayed in a place where I could hear those kind of noises in the night. Unfortunately for me all I hear are sirens and car alarms going off. I am eagerly looking forward to the day when I can finally move from this neighborhood to one that is at least a bit quieter.
  11. I've heard of people getting hit by cars and on a less macabre note, falling into rivers or throwing their phones against a wall while trying to 'swipe' and these stories didn't seem real to me until now. I guess some people really committed huh?
  12. That is too true. Too many of us are not living our fullest lives because we are too worried about what other people are going to think about our choices and so we let go of what we really want in favor of what society says is good for us. So sad...
  13. I think you're right Cookiie, and don't underestimate the power of stretching. It has a whole host of benefits and it's certainly better than nothing.
  14. Speaking of holidays, one of the things that I am dreading is having my inlaws under the same roof as my side of the family. Last time we did that it was a total disaster.
  15. I don't think it's odd at all to try to find some humor in every situation (no matter how morbid...) I do it a lot too and I've come across a lot of funny gravestones in my time.
  16. I know that we all live busy lifestyles here, but it's always a good thing to try to incorporate a bit of physical (and mental) exercise into your daily routines. What are some of the ways you can get some effective exercise in a short space of time?
  17. That sounds like really good advice. That is going to be a major factor in deciding where you stay. I think another factor would be to know about the hurricanes and tropical storms that are prone to happen and have a disaster plan ready.
  18. I think that she should have been charged for that, but what's done is done. Also, she has to live with the knowledge that she caused a man's death for the rest of your life so maybe that's punishment enough.
